I have been providing psychotherapy for over 30 years to individuals, couples, and groups.Throughout one's life, feelings such as depression and anxiety can create a sense of loss of control. Life events such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or interpersonal conflict can feel overwhelming. My clients would say that I treat every one according to their particular issues, with respect, and with great support and understanding. I also teach at George Washington University Medical School and I am on the National Council of the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. I provide supervision, as well, to other psychotherapists.

Life is challenging and at times we need geniune help to grow to our fullest potential. As a clinical psychologist, it is my passion to help individuals discover what keeps them from obtaining their life goals. Depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, divorce, and/or basic growing pains can negatively impact one's life. My practice is centered around breaking down the barriers that impede on life success, and learning real strategies to combat future difficulties. In addition to traditional therapy, I also provide parenting coordination for parents looking for alternative ways to address co-parenting difficulties.

I tailor my services to each client and their unique needs, always from the humanistic approach. That means that I see my clients first and foremost as human beings, having what we would consider a human experience. Clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, job issues, or really any other type of discomfort will benefit from my integration of mindfulness and meditative practices into their treatment, alongside the use of building the psychological tools that empower them to create measurable changes to their circumstances.

Dr. Lamar is a psychologist and a licensed professional counselor who has been providing therapy to individuals, families and groups for over 12 years. She earned a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University's Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2016. She also has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology earned in 2003, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. Xavier University in Chicago obtained in 2000.

We are doing teletherapy for all new and current clients. Our therapists use secure, confidential and easy-to-use platforms such as VSee, Doxy and WebEx. Ask us for a short demonstration. We specialize in helping young adults (20s and 30s) navigate the often turbulent period between college and middle age. We have 12 therapists, all of whom have extensive experience working with this age group. Since 2012, our therapists have helped more than 1,500 clients make positive and sustained changes in their lives. We offer early morning appointments, evening appointments, Saturday hours (9 am-5 pm) and Sunday hours (2 pm-5 pm).

Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

I am an assistant professor of clinical psychology at George Washington University. I was a staff psychologist at Georgetown Univ. Law Center and have extensive experience working with lawyers.

I am a clinical psychologist working with adults and adolescents in individual psychotherapy. Issues addressed in treatement are wide ranging. Some with which I commonly work include depression, anxiety, grief and loss and relationship problems. By training, I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist: I understand our thoughts and feelings as being governed by our environment, our relationships, and also by psychological dynamics that we have internalized as early as our childhood. These dynamics color and at times shape our relationships and experiences. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a means to change these dynamics when they have led to maladaptive patterns.
