I am experienced at assisting with many conditions, especially depression, anxiety and substance use disorders. I am also a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor for new counselors.

Life can be overwhelming and lonely at times. Managing relationships, work, family, friends, school, career paths, and/or kids, can be complicated, frustrating, and exhausting. We do our best to navigate these experiences, but there comes a point when we feel stuck, depressed, anxious, confused, and/or lost. We typically do a good job of suppressing these issues, until we just can't do it anymore. When these times arise, which they always do, it is helpful to have a supportive, nonjudgmental guide to walk with you as you explore and navigate your thoughts and feelings.

I am a psychologist and psychoanalyst with over thirty years of experience. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, depression and relational conflicts. Many of the clients that I see have relational difficulties. Through a collaborative process, clients learn what interferes with initiating and maintaining relationships. I also use EMDR and Somatic Experience when it is appropriate.

I work with children, adults, couples and families struggling with overwhelming feelings, infertility, pregnancy/postpartum issues, disordered eating/body image, trauma, anxiety, depression or general life obstacles. Better Days Therapy is a mental health service that provides counseling for adults, adolescents, children, and families. I work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health. I examine issues including substance abuse, aging, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQ issues, self-image, stress and suicide. I help clients define goals, plan action and gain insight into their thought process. I develop therapeutic processes and take a holistic (mind, body, and spirit) approach to mental health care. I will perform crisis intervention and crisis counseling when needed.

As a psychotherapist, I understand that making changes in one's life is not always easy. I view these life changes as a process, in which seemingly small changes need to be appreciated in order to facilitate the progression to larger life changes. Having two masters degrees in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University provides an educational foundation with which to support individuals in a non-threatening and therapeutic manner, in a relaxed and comfortable office setting. I approach therapy as a creative, collaborative healing process. I believe in tailoring my approach to the unique needs of each individual in a safe, supportive way. My background includes training in trauma treatment; I am a Somatic Experiencing Professional (SEP) since 2015 and I have completed IFS Internal Family Systems therapy training (2016). I also completed psychoanalytic training at New York University Postdoctoral Training Program.

Identifying feelings, triggers, & problematic behaviors in a warm, non-judgmental environment can help bring about change. I specialize in working with clients who may be struggling with: anxiety, depression, divorce, death, family transitions, social skills, bullying, academics and/or self-esteem. My goal is to provide support & work to resolve issues brought into focus by stress, transitions, or other triggering situations. When children feel safe, nurtured, and validated they are open to acquiring skills necessary for emotional growth.
