My goal is to combine a psychology foundation with holistic modalities to provide individuals with a full-spectrum mind, body, energy, and emotional transformation. I offer
Hypnotherapy
, Reiki, and Transformational Coaching.
Hypnotherapy
sessions help individuals overcome issues with ease as they discover the core root, uncover the layers, and transition into newly integrated belief systems. Reiki is an alternative healing technique that activates natural healing processes to restore physical and emotional well-being. Coaching sessions provide individuals with goal-focused action plans void of limiting beliefs or fears.

With Master's Degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Pastoral Ministry, a certification in
hypnotherapy
, advanced training in psychophysiological disorders and integrative mental health, I treat mind, body, and spirit.
Do you sometimes feel like your nervous system is failing you? Do you have emotional (or even physical) symptoms that you suspect are rooted in some kind of shock, ongoing conflict, or trauma? Do you feel like you are constantly in "fight or flight" mode and wonder if you will ever be able to truly rest? Many of my clients have sought help from MDs, and even alternative health practitioners, only to discover the source of their pain and exhaustion was untreated trauma. But I would love to tell you: there is hope! There is treatment for shock and trauma.

I like to use this combination of
hypnotherapy
, dream work, shamanic healing methods, energy psychology, and mind-body interventions because it provides a way for clients to discover and heal the root causes or those sensitizing events that are contributing to or fueling their current problems.
I am Sheldon Shalley, MSW, LCSW. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, hypnosis, dream work, shamanic healing practices, energy psychology, and mind-body medicine approaches to help people identify, face, and alter beliefs, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, judgments, and painful memories that stand in the way of living one's life. This work allows wounds to heal, helps a person break free from destructive and unhealthy patterns and moves the person toward a greater sense of emotional and spiritual well-being.

We offer a variety of alternative methods, including
hypnotherapy
, wellness coaching, and the inclusion of expressive arts, all of which can be used as stand alone treatments or in combination with traditional counseling.
The decision to begin counseling can be intimidating, exhilarating; and, ultimately, a life changer. Counseling at Sunstone Health & Wellness is done in a very relaxed, conversational way to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Most of the time, we know the solutions to our own problems. But there are those rare occasions when we all need a little extra support, education, and resources to help us continue on the path to living the best life possible. Counseling can be a powerful tool to create change and take action in the life you've always wanted to live.

I transitioned this summer from Texas to Indiana and have empathy for anyone going through a transitional process. I am still seeing Texas clients virtually; still taking TX BCBS. I am currently taking new clients at my Bloomfield, Indiana, location. I grew up northeast of Bloomfield. It has taken several years to get back, but I am excited to be offering my services in my hometown. I believe that coming along beside a person, and walking with them in their journey, is a step of trust. Exploring the situation together can make the journey easier.

Presence and accompaniment matter. We can more easily connect to our true self and touch emotional distress in the presence of another's settled nervous system. Neurobiology and mindfulness science has proven that the human brain can be distraught while simultaneously observing the self with compassion. The ability to be both experiencing and holding the experience is the key to maintaining calm when facing challenges. Whether you feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxiety, anger, depression, or find yourself reacting in ways that leave you feeling alone and hurt, we can come to be with all of it with gentle awareness and respect.

I am passionate about mental health and am grateful I have worked in this field over the last 14 years. As a Marriage and Family therapist for 5 years, I have found my calling working with professional helpers such as first responders, veterans, and military service members. I have a specific interest and expertise in working with professional helpers who have a hard time accepting or asking for help themselves. I have gotten to know the struggles of the professional helpers and their loved ones that I have had the honor to work with.

"I work with adults, children and adolescents. I often work with relationship, marital and family issues. I help couples with communication issues and provide ideas to work on outside of the session. Children often see me for stress management techniques to utilize at school and home; and I teach them techniques to help increase focus and concentration."

How can I find a therapist in Indiana?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
