Perhaps, you are experiencing immense pain from your previous hurtful and traumatic experiences. Or, you are recovering from the death of a loved one and are unsure where to begin your healing process. Let me be that person to help you in your healing journey. In therapy, I strive to create a warm, caring, and safe environment for you to gain a deep sense of self-awareness and understanding. I enjoy working with young adults.
I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Indiana (Health Service Provider in Psychology), Ohio, and New York. I am also Board Certified in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology. I have extensive experience and training in conducting forensic psychological evaluations, providing consultations, and serving as an expert witness. In 2012, I founded Clinical and Forensic Psychology Services (CFPS) as a private practice specializing in forensic psychological evaluations of juveniles and adults. I do not currently provide treatment services.
My style is down-to-earth, direct, and personal. This type of therapy aims to change both our outward struggles and behaviors that can seem baffling and distressing while understanding the issues that underlie them. These deeper forces - hidden from view and rooted in our past and early relationships - can result in the greatest difficulty, and cause us to feel stuck, confused, empty, or out of control. Having the involvement and perspective of another person can help alleviate pain, shift old patterns, recover from difficulties, and lead to lasting change.

I want to start out by saying that I'm looking forward to meeting you and working on the issues and goals that brought you into my office. I am extremely passionate about what I do and love my job! It is my belief that everyone has significant strengths and abilities to heal and get to the place in life where they want to be, but sometimes you just need a little bit of help. I use a strengths-based approach and also help clients look into where their issues are coming from instead of just trying to put a Band-Aid on the problem.
Thank you for your interest in my services. In 2018, I decided to limit my scope of practice to custody/parenting time evaluations and other domestic forensic evaluations, reunification therapy, and co-parenting coaching. At this time, due to the volume of demand for evaluations, I am not taking new reunification or co-parent coaching clients. When that changes, I will immediately announce that here and on our website. You can find out more about these services at the Carmel Psychology website or please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. All of my communication takes place through email.
I work from a psychodynamic and interactive perspective to assist individuals, couples, and families to become more conscious of how their past experiences have shaped current relationships. Many clients are experiencing difficulties, challenges, psychological pain, and life transitions and wish to move into a more joyful, meaningful, and peaceful life. We work together to discover patterns and connections that can help lead to greater self-understanding so that we can understand ourselves in relationship to others.
If you value experience and need to talk over some painful issues, I would like to meet with you. After over 45 years as a clinical psychologist, I'm still devoted to exploring the personal worlds and relationships of my clients. I take a conversational, collaborative approach to the search for new ways to solve old problems and deepen relationships. Sessions usually occur weekly or at least every other week to maintain a constructive intensity and continuity of effort toward self-awareness and increasing coping skills.
Times of struggle and pain can also be times of positive growth. When we learn that we have choices in how we respond to the situations in our lives, we can become empowered to choose to respond to stressors in a way that enables us to move forward in an intentional and positive direction.
It is my goal to help you discover the choices and strengths you have to cope with the challenges you face and to also discover the gifts that are so often hidden in adversities in order that you might actively choose the future you want.
Are you hurting, feeling tired, lost or stuck, or perhaps struggling with a personal issue or in your relationship? With compassion, hope and inspiration, I want to help guide you in overcoming past and current issues to make your future happier and healthier. Therapy is a journey that evolves with us working together toward common goals and exploring issues to promote your growth and healing. Together, we will develop useful techniques and insightful feedback for changing what can be changed, and learning to cope with what can't.

As a parent of a preteen and a teenage young adult, I understand the joys and the challenges of parenting in today's world. As a psychologist, I bring the knowledge and experience to assist when life becomes difficult.
As guys, we don't really like to talk about it. You know, the stress, the dissatisfaction with our lives, our relationships, our jobs. Hitting that point in life where things just aren't what we thought they were supposed to be. So we shut down. We get angry and irritable. We stuff it down because we're never supposed to let them see us sweat. The problem is we end up exhausted, frustrated, and just plain lost. But if you want to find your way again, you've got to stop and ask for directions at some point, right?
I believe the process of therapy will help you clarify your feelings, understand yourself and others, explore options, and make changes in your life. My orientation as a therapist is both psychodynamic and interactive--gaining an understanding of your past to enhance your future. I consider self-knowledge and self-acceptance the best ways to overcome challenges encountered throughout life. Therapy should be tailored to a client's needs as no two people are alike, therefore I employ a variety of theories, techniques, and practices which customize treatment to the uniqueness of each individual.
