I earned my undergraduate degree from Ball State University and my graduate degree from Howard University, and completed advanced training in psychodynamic and trauma-responsive approaches under the mentorship of leading clinicians on the East Coast and in the Washington, D
At the heart of my work is the belief that our present struggles often echo old stories, and by exploring those deeper layers with care, we open the door to lasting change. In sessions, we will work to challenge unhelpful thoughts you may be having and build new ways of thinking. I believe that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind. These beliefs may come from our childhood, our experiences and may be what we have learned from others.

At times people find themselves wondering how they got where they are, thinking about now vs then. Experiences can lead to not feeling like yourself and being uncertain of where you're headed. Entering new phases of life can present uncharted struggles, overwhelming unease, and major disruptions to balance and peace, making the path forward feel confusing and unsure. Maybe the overwhelm has gotten the better of you and you are hoping to find a place to land that is safe, met with warmth and honesty, and is practical in nature. If so, you've landed in the right spot.

Dealing with addiction can be an overwhelming experience that is filled with starts and stops and can often leave you hopeless and uncertain about the future. In many ways, addiction is like a bad relationship; the longer you remain in it, the worse it gets. Change is possible, but you do not need to go it alone. I will provide a therapeutic space that will meet you where you are and help you to discover the possibility of a better future.

Betrayal cuts deep—but even in the wake of sexual betrayal, you are not too much, too broken, or beyond healing. I help Christian women navigate the wreckage of betrayal trauma. If you feel unseen, unheard, and unsure of who you are now, you're not alone. Together, we'll confront painful lies, process deep wounds, and rebuild from the inside out. My approach blends biblical truth with trauma-informed care, creating space for authentic healing without shame or superficial fixes.

My work is often a mixture of psychodynamic, attachment, and systems theories.
I work with men who have difficulty identifying with their feelings, struggle with depression and anxiety, or have issues with their work/life balance. My clients typically struggle with expressing themselves in their relationships. They feel lonely, hopeless, and isolated. They are overworked and under loved. In our work together, I will give you support, feedback and insight, and constructively challenge patterns and beliefs that may be getting in your way. Together we can strive to understand the roots of the struggles you are experiencing in your life.

I work from a psychodynamic and relational lens, which means we pay attention to what’s happening beneath the surface.
You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns that don't seem to change, despite your best efforts. Sometimes the struggle isn't only about what's happening in the present, but about experiences, relationships, and ways of coping that continue to shape how you move through the world. Lately, it can feel like there's a constant level of noise, internally and externally, making it harder to know what you actually feel, need, or want.

Have you found yourself feeling overwhelmed, stressed and managing racing thoughts or anxiety? You pretend like everything is fine, hiding behind work, school or a busy schedule; attempting to balance it all but still feeling the struggle. Maybe you're up at night with trying to get your mind to just be quiet, experiencing conflict in your relationship and or worrying about your kids. We all struggle at some point in life; because we're human and being alive can be hard. Therapy is not "fixing" the broken bits, it’s about helping you come home to yourself with trust, clarity and grace. You deserve to enjoy your life, marriage

If you’ve been carrying anxiety, grief, or emotional pain for a long time and are ready for a shift, welcome. I offer a calm, steady, compassionate space where you can move beyond holding on. Together, we’ll explore your inner world and reconnect with the parts of you that carry hope, strength, and balance. I work with teens, individuals, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, grief, and relational struggles. I use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy.
If you value experience and need to talk over some painful issues, I would like to meet with you. After over 50 years as a clinical psychologist, I'm still devoted to exploring the personal worlds and relationships of my clients. I take a conversational, collaborative approach to the search for new ways to solve old problems and deepen relationships. Sessions usually occur weekly or at least every other week to maintain a constructive intensity and continuity of effort toward self-awareness and increasing coping skills.

I use a psychodynamic framework, and I have an eclectic therapeutic approach to meet you where you're at.
You’ve been in therapy before—maybe more than once—and you’ve gained real insight. You understand yourself better. And yet, here you are again, feeling stuck in the same patterns, the same relationship dynamics, the same quiet ache of disconnection. You’re not broken. You’re just ready for something deeper. The clients I work with are thoughtful, self-aware people who are ready for something to shift—not just in how they think about themselves, but in how they feel. They’re drawn to deeper emotional exploration, willing to sit with what’s underneath —not with self-judgment, but with curiosity.

When you are in psychological distress and someone really hears you without passing judgement, without trying to take responsibility, without trying to mold you, the impact can be profound. I strive to be authentic, accepting, and empathetic in the therapeutic relationship to provide a safe space that allows for you to be truly heard. My ideal client is one who is open to doing the difficult work. Yes, if we do the work then life becomes an opportunity to love, and live.

I'm trained in psychodynamic therapy and CBT, so we go deep when it matters and get practical when it doesn't.
My clients usually show up after they've read every book on communication, listened to a podcast about emotional immaturity, and feel more anxious as a result, not less. I work with couples who are wondering if they'll be having the same fight for the rest of their lives, individuals, and high-functioning professionals (first responders, medical people, consultants) whose relationships are mysteriously harder than everything else they're good at. I read the research. You get the translation. Nobody performs concern.

You’ve built a life that looks good on paper—but inside, something feels off. You may be successful in your career yet quietly battling anxiety, burnout, or relationship struggles that no one sees. You might love your partner but feel stuck in the same arguments, craving connection and wondering why it feels so hard. Or you may be carrying the weight of past trauma while trying to keep everything else running. You’re insightful and capable and have likely tried to manage this on your own. But you’re tired. You want more than coping—you want clarity, relief, and deeper fulfillment in your life and relationships.

I work with children, teens, and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, past experiences that continue to impact them, life transitions, or challenges in relationships. They often come to therapy feeling like they’ve been carrying a lot on their own and are ready for a space where they can feel supported, understood, and not judged.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
