You know the fight. The one that finds you again and again, wearing different costumes but always the same shape. You've tried conversations, maybe therapy that wasn't hard enough. The pattern keeps winning, and something in you already knows this can't keep going. The couples I work with are intelligent enough to know communication tips won't be enough — and honest enough to want to see what's actually happening underneath. We begin with a Strategic Relationship Assessment — four sessions that produce a written map of your patterns. From there, the work is intentional from the first hour.

I have a down-to-earth approach to therapy that blends insight with practical tools by merging cognitive behavioral therapy with psychodynamic psychotherapy.
I am a licensed mental health counselor and national certified counselor trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I work with adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and unresolved or traumatic experiences, to support emotional regulation, insight, and lasting change in a collaborative, supportive way. I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, with a particular focus on older teens and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or caught in recurring emotional or relational patterns. Many come to therapy wanting to better understand why these cycles continue to show up and how to respond to themselves and others with greater calm, compassion, and clarity. Together, we explore the deeper roots of your story, strengthen grounding and regulation skills, and move toward healing, identity, and more connected ways of living.

If you're considering therapy, there's probably a part of you that has been carrying a lot for a long time. Welcome. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and deeply tired of carrying things alone. They may function well on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally sensitive, or disconnected on the inside. Often, there’s a sense of “I should be handling this better,” even when that expectation is part of the problem.

You’ve built a life that looks good on paper—but inside, something feels off. You may be successful in your career yet quietly battling anxiety, burnout, or relationship struggles that no one sees. You might love your partner but feel stuck in the same arguments, craving connection and wondering why it feels so hard. Or you may be carrying the weight of past trauma while trying to keep everything else running. You’re insightful and capable and have likely tried to manage this on your own. But you’re tired. You want more than coping—you want clarity, relief, and deeper fulfillment in your life and relationships.

“Together we will cry and face fear and grief. I will want to take away your pain, but instead I will sit with you and teach you how to feel it.”- Brené Brown We are often met with experiences in life that shape us and create patterns of responding to our environments in both healthy and unhealthy ways. We may feel alone in moments of darkness, confusion or in the presence of the unknown; you are not alone! We will work to trust the process of sitting with the uncomfortable, embracing uniqueness and vulnerabilities and identifying thoughts and feelings that prevent us from seeing our best selves.

There are many reasons someone may seek therapy, and for athletes, the mental side of performance can feel just as challenging as the physical demands. You may struggle with anxiety, stress, mood regulation, trauma, burnout, life transitions, or feeling overwhelmed by school, relationships, or competition. You may also feel stuck due to a mental block, loss of confidence, or performance anxiety. These experiences can leave you feeling isolated or discouraged. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to help athletes and individuals build resilience, confidence, and hope.

Life is full of traumatic events and we all have been traumatized to a certain degree. We are the only ones who can define it and we are all impacted differently by it. For many of us, our trauma negatively impacts our beliefs about ourselves and our worth. Having a negative core belief system often leads to substance abuse and other maladaptive behavior as a means to numb our pain and drown our shame. I have spent years working with individuals who struggle with substance use and addiction and have come to learn that the majority of them have suffered from trauma. You do not have to continue to suffer. I am here to help.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
