Life can be difficult. Counseling shouldn’t be. When you’re struggling to cope with symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD, addiction, relationship stress, or family problems in your life, starting therapy is a courageous step toward change. If you are feeling out of balance or in distress, it can feel defeating to reach out for help and be met with unreturned calls, waitlists, or therapists who are not taking new clients. Not addressing your issues with a professional can often lead to increased symptoms while you wait for your first appointment. We see children, teens, adults, families, and couples.

Admitting we need help can be one of the hardest first steps. It takes courage to say, “I can’t do this alone,” and even more to trust someone with your story. My goal is to make that step feel less overwhelming by creating a space that feels safe, welcoming, and centered on your unique journey. Therapy is most effective when you feel genuinely heard and valued, when there’s room to explore both the pain and the possibility, and when progress unfolds through curiosity, compassion, and collaboration instead of pressure or judgment. I provide evidence-based support to individuals and families using a person-centered approach.

Embarking on the journey of therapy can often feel overwhelming for many individuals. It’s not uncommon to experience uncertainty about the process, question its potential benefits, or feel as though you need to be further along in your personal growth before seeking assistance. I recognize these challenges and am committed to creating a compassionate and nurturing environment where clients can safely explore their thoughts and emotions. My objective is to help clients understand that each step, no matter how small, is a vital part of the journey toward healing and personal development.

It’s an honor to walk alongside my clients as they navigate the path toward healing, self-discovery, and meaningful change. I believe that therapy should be more than just a conversation—it should be a transformative experience, tailored to your unique needs and designed to foster lasting growth, resilience, and fulfillment. Richard Schwartz, the founder of Internal Family Systems (IFS), once said, “All parts are welcome.” My mission is to create a space where you can embrace every aspect of yourself—without fear or judgment—while also feeling empowered to grow into the version of yourself you strive to be.

The path of life is rarely straight, and we all face ups and downs that can make us feel lost or out of balance. Seeking support with anxiety, addiction, depression or other requires courage, especially when feeling weighed down or distressed. I understand you’ve attempted contacting other therapists, and that their full caseloads have made timely responses challenging. I empathize with how disheartening that must feel when you need help urgently. I specialize in helping teens and adults with stress, anger, anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, ADHD, behavioral concerns, low motivation, sexual issues and many more.

Starting therapy can feel confusing and overwhelming. Many people want to feel better but are not sure where to begin or what kind of therapist will be the right fit. You might be seeking help for yourself, your child, or a loved one and find that the process feels like one more obstacle. It can be hard to know who to trust or whether therapy will really make a difference. I understand how discouraging that uncertainty can feel, and my goal is to make the process easier, more supportive, and guided with compassion every step of the way.

Hi there! I’m Soni — a proud Traders Point native and graduate of Covenant Christian High School, Purdue University, and Butler University. My journey into the world of therapy has been shaped by deep-rooted connections to my community and a lifelong passion for helping others discover their inner strength. In my downtime, you’ll likely find me belting out Disney karaoke, binge-watching classic TV shows like I Love Lucy or I Dream of Jeannie, wandering Eagle Creek, enjoying quiet evenings with my family, or cozied up at home with my two beloved cats. These small joys ground me — and I believe in helping my clients find theirs too.

As a counselor, I believe in the transformative power of insight as the foundation for meaningful change. My approach centers on helping clients uncover the precursors to their struggles, whether rooted in past experiences, deeply held beliefs, or automatic thought patterns. Through compassionate exploration, I assist individuals in identifying the underlying factors contributing to their current symptoms, fostering self-awareness that serves as a catalyst for growth. I emphasize the importance of this initial realization, helping clients connect with their reasons for change and the motivation that drives them forward.

Maybe you overthink everything, struggle in relationships, or feel stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break. You’re self-aware, but that hasn’t been enough to create real change. Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
