Plenty of people can survive a loveless life.
That’s because humans can satisfy their physical needs (food, shelter, resources) without a personal connection to love.
Survival is one thing, and it’s not nothing! But if survival was everything, a lot more of us would feel happy, secure, and fulfilled…
instead of fearful, empty, and lonely.
Behind closed doors, so many "high-functioning" people are struggling with depression, anxiety, dysfunctional relationships — and of course, addiction.
When people reach out to a therapist, they might say they're unhappy with their jobs, their finances, or their families.
But in my experience, what they're most unhappy with, deep down, is themselves. They're battling shame, self-loathing, and guilt. And they feel stuck and powerless to help themselves.
My approach is never to keep you focused on the problem. Instead, I want to help connect you to the solution: learning how to love and believe in yourself.
As a therapist, coach, and a recovering addict myself, I know that self-love can lead each and every one of us to a free and joyful existence. The first step is just allowing yourself to want it.
