I believe that most people already hold insight into what they need to feel better. What’s often missing isn’t the answer, but the confidence to trust it. My role is to help you recognize your strengths, examine what may be getting in the way, and build the clarity and skills needed to move forward with intention.

Most have struggled with anxiety and depression.
I focus on building emotional trust and safety with my clients. I mainly practice Person-Centered Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. I find both approaches work very well in teletherapy. I may also incorporate skills-training, such as visualization, meditation, and breath-work. Most clients see improvement within the first eight sessions.

My focuses are high anxiety, trauma and difficult life transitions.
Has your focus has been achieving all the high expectations you set ? Then you look in the mirror and think, “when will I feel better”. Does this sound familiar? Are you struggling to find balance between your goals and the peace you are looking for? You may have gone to therapy before and felt like you were not getting anywhere or feel curious to see what outcomes look like with a different approach. If you are ready to take a journey that is more actionable I would love the opportunity to be a partner in your growth.

I believe each of us is doing the best we can with what we have and what we know; and yet, we all want (and can!) do better through conversation, learning and practicing new ways. I believe that non-judgmental conversation can lead to great ideas and healing. With my years of experience, I have seen individuals and families find the relief they seek and the habits they need to feel better.

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, including experiences that can still affect how your body responds to stress today.
It has been my life’s joy and work to walk alongside people of all ages who for whatever reason have found themselves in the trenches. In my career as a counselor I have seen children heal from trauma, teenagers gain confidence through challenges, people who feel hopeless find new meaning and purpose in their lives and everything else in between. No matter what you may be facing, it is my belief and experience that each of us have more capacity for hope, healing and lasting change than we may yet realize.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
