In therapy, we might use a combination of approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT) to address negative self-talk or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to process trauma memories and the emotions tied to them.
Are you an adult who has faced significant adversity in life? Whether it’s poverty, abuse, neglect, or family violence, the effects of these experiences can linger, impacting your sense of self-worth and everyday well-being. If you're struggling with feelings of not being "good enough" or battling persistent anxiety, I am here to help.

I also use ACT and CBT to support values-based change and flexible thinking.
You're not "too much." You are not broken. If you've ever felt like the world wasn't built with your brain in mind, you're not alone. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, masking, rejection sensitivity, or just the chronic exhaustion of trying to be “normal,” therapy can be a space where you don’t have to pretend- you get to show up as your full self. Here’s the truth: You are capable of more than you can imagine. And seeking help is not a weakness—it’s an act of courage. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you; it’s about helping you reclaim your story, your voice, your weirdness, and your wonder.

Are you looking for someone to help you make sense of the changes and challenges life brings? I believe every individual holds the key to the solution that is right for them. Empowering individuals to let go of self-criticism, create realistic expectations, and remove the barriers that are keeping them stuck is a process I believe in.

However, I do believe in utilizing specific treatment models in specific situations (i.e., TF- CBT).
I am currently accepting new clients! I love working with a variety of clients during my day. My first therapy job was a generalist position and from there, I moved to a crisis assessment position. I enjoy the variety of issues people bring and find that we all have so much in common when it is all said and done! Everyone needs to feel heard and validated, no matter what the issue is. I can provide that validation and support, while we also work towards goals of positive change.

Together we choose from a spectrum of techniques, including cognitive/behavioral, family or couples therapy, insight-oriented techniques, and hypnotherapy, to create the right plan.
I draw from many therapeutic modes. However, I specialize in hypnotherapy, including visualization and past life regression, due to the rapid improvement after just 2 or 3 sessions. Even initially skeptical clients are often astonished by the leap forward in stress relief, symptom reduction, or improvement in unhealthy habits such as smoking.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
