The world today can be challenging for children and teens; it can be easy to fall into a pattern of anxious or depressed mood, feeling like you don't fit in, and juggling ever-changing environments.
I love finding fun and creative ways to help my clients work through challenges so they can continue to learn and grow in a safe environment. I strive to make all my clients feel welcome and comfortable, regardless of what they are going through. When appropriate, I love to include the entire family in sessions.

These changes are not purely physical, and can have a surprising impact on our emotional and mental health including anxiety, irritability, fatigue.
Therapy with me can be a way to explore your challenges, past or present, build a new relationship with them, redefine priorities and refocus on what truly matters to you. I am also a play therapist and use play to support children in processing stressful experiences and improve emotional regulation.

I specialize in trauma-focused issues, anxiety and depressive disorders, bipolar and borderline personality difficulties, child abuse and parental custody issues, and teenage behavioral issues.
I am a down to earth therapist and am committed to understanding and helping the WHOLE person, not just bits and pieces. My style tends to focus more on empowering and starting where you are, but going in a direction you feel most comfortable with. I am a veteran wife and have seen the effect of how time in the military can affect the family structure both negatively and positively. I've also struggled with Chronic Lyme Disease for over 20 years so I can empathize with issues that can be associated with chronic illness, both mentally and physically. I'm highly skilled in navigating through life with kids and Lyme Disease/PANS.

I have aided in progress with individuals that are depressed, anxious, and having a hard time adjusting or have experienced severe trauma.
My approach is cognitive behavioral with reality and solution-focused therapy. I will work with the client so that treatment is individualized and unique to them. The therapeutic relationship is a relationship just like any other. It has to make sense for us both. I have to understand things you say and you have to understand things I say.

My ideal clients are adults who are navigating the weight of everyday life — whether that's anxiety that won't quiet down, a major life transition that's left them unsteady, burnout that's crept in slowly, or relationship patterns that keep leaving them feeling disconnected.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent over 20 years working in community mental health, crisis intervention, and private practice. That experience has given me a deep understanding of what people actually need to feel better — not just textbook answers, but real, practical support that meets you where you are. You'll work with someone who has seen a lot, judges nothing, and genuinely believes in your capacity to heal. First sessions can feel a little nerve-wracking — and that's completely normal. Think of it as a warm, open conversation where we get to know each other.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
