My focus on working with substance use, behavioral addictions, depression, anxiety, trauma, men's issues , and other related concerns.
Sometimes we get stuck and feel trapped by our experiences related to substance use, addictive thinking, trauma, anxiety, depression and other addictive or high risk behaviors. If this sounds like you, I would like to help you manage these experiences and empower you to break through the challenges associated with your personal experience. I would like the opportunity to help you build up and enhance your strengths, minimize and plan for your limitations, and give you hope and opportunities to make the changes you desire.

I view the counseling relationship as a safe place to promote growth through life’s challenges. I use a holistic approach, including mind and body, to help others live a healthy and more meaningful life. I believe that relationships with others and finding meaning in life plays a role in how we see ourselves, and how we feel about others.

Men are currently going through an identity crisis. Decades ago, men were appreciated, respected, and cherished for simply working and providing for their households. The expectations from partners/spouses, children, and members of the community, have shifted greatly for various reasons, leaving men in a lost space. This space will leave a man feeling unwanted, used, abused, and unloved - causing anxiety, depression, anger, resentment, infidelity, and other life damanging issues. Most of these issues are undisclosed because the man has no outlet through the unspoken expectation of him being strong and mighty.

It’s so easy in this day and age to lose sight of one’s self and wake up one day and not recognize the person in the mirror. It’s my passion to come alongside those individuals or couples that have lost their way in life and need a listening ear or a fresh perspective. I firmly believe that every dry and painful season of life can be a springboard into hope for the next. It does not matter who you are, what’s been done or what you have done, there is hope.

Change can be exciting, unsettling, challenging and fulfilling. Together we will identify the changes you seek and what is needed to make these changes come to life. In general, I practice gestalt therapy and focus on immediate experience. This helps you integrate what you sense, feel, and think into a more meaningful life. This is the heart of the therapeutic change process. Our work is present-centered, insight oriented, and relational. As an experienced psychotherapist, I welcome you into a relationship where you will feel safe, understood, and can achieve insights into your life that enable you to resolve issues.

Each and every single person on this planet has the ability to change his or her life- it simply takes the correct approach to unlock it. Figuring out this approach can sometimes be incredibly difficult, hopeless, infuriating and a multitude of other not-so-pleasant adjectives. This is where therapy can help. It cannot erase what happened in the past. It cannot magically make the future pain-free. It can however critically analyze and assess the present and identify ways to move forward and pursue the life you wish to live.

Do you have a felt sense that something profound has yet to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist? Maybe your demanding schedule makes attending weekly therapy appointments a challenge, but you want to dive in to resolving issues that you have been dealing with for awhile? Do you need help with something and it is affecting you right now but you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better? Now more than ever we need flexibility on how we get support in life.

I am motivated by a genuine curiosity to understand each person's unique perspective, and I believed that successful therapy begins with providing individuals a space to be authentic and vulnerable. I view counseling as a conversation about your story, a process to empower you to make meaning of your experiences, challenges and ambitions. I believe that all clients have the capacity for self-discovery and problem solving. Therefore, I work collaboratively with pre-teens, adolescents and adults to improve emotional control, develop self-acceptance, and cultivate fulfilling relationships.

Life may seem overwhelming, as if you are alone and no one understands you. Maybe you have an issue with someone, but the thought of conflict makes you shut down and avoid the situation. Perhaps you are anxious or consumed with worry or afraid of disappointing others. I have worked with many patients who struggle to stay connected in relationships or effectively communicate with others. You could struggle with anger issues and use anger to defend and protect yourself from being hurt.

Therapy is a process and a journey. It takes courage and commitment. For many people, walking through a counselor's door is a huge step. It can feel hopeful and scary at the same time. For others who already have some experience with therapy, they may be looking for someone who can give a different perspective or address a different issue. My approach to counseling is holistic: mind, body and spirit. My goal is to create a safe environment where trust can build and issues can be addressed.

I have helped many people from ages 12 to 80+ 'weather a personal crisis' regardless of circumstances; in addition, I have acquired special, training in working with returning military personnel in coping with their re-entry issues as well as helping them take 'next steps'. I am also an expert in career 'direction' as well as 'redirection', and regardless of age, I seek those people as clients who desire to become or retain an 'open mind'! I encourage 'self-esteem' as a precious commodity and promote one's own goals and personal values as their keys to happiness.

What type of Noblesville mental health professional is right for me?
While most types of therapy have a lot in common, they also fall into clusters that share core features, such as cognitive therapies or psychodynamic approaches. It is important to seek someone who practices evidence-based therapy, meaning one or more forms of treatment that have been scientifically evaluated and tested, and demonstrate consistent improvement for a majority of patients.

If you are unsure about choosing the right therapist or psychologist, it might be useful to first learn more about therapy types and modalities.

How to find a therapist or counselor in Noblesville?
When looking to find a therapist, start by considering training and credentials. Studies also indicate that the therapeutic alliance, or the relationship the client develops with the therapist, is an important factor in their ability to work together to achieve the client’s goals.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Understanding cost and insurance coverage is an important concern for many people. With some basic research and conversations with prospective therapists, you should be able to have a good understanding of the best way to afford therapy.
