I believe that every human is inherently good and worthy. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions, I am here to help you rediscover the goodness inside of you. I work with women and couples to help them get to know the important parts of themselves and how those parts might be making it difficult for them to be their truest selves.

My clients are typically adoptees and/or their adoptive or birth families. I also see women who are struggling with burnout. Adoption is a life-long process that can create many challenges for adoptees. I “get it” on a level most therapists can’t because as an adoptee myself, I’ve also experienced those losses and the questions that come with them. I am in reunion and have been since I was 18. This has been a largely positive experience but has had emotional ups and downs through the years.

Every day we hear: I don't even recognize myself anymore. Anxiety is taking over my life. I just need to get over what happened to me. Getting through the day is a struggle. We hear it from women who are holding everything together for everyone else, but feel like they falling are apart inside. We, as women , need a protected and encouraging space to take a "pause" from daily life to think about what we want in our lives and how to get there. Indy Women 's Counseling is that space. We are women therapists with real lives, holding it all together too. We get it. We see you. We can help.

I work with men and women who find themselves lost and seeking a path of healing.
I absolutely love what I do! I’m passionate, straightforward, and with me, what you see is what you get. I will give you truthful feedback, but in a loving way. I will not waste your time; it is far too valuable. (Mine is too!) I know what it’s like to question, “Am I always going to feel like this?” And I’m here to tell you that the answer is “no”. It doesn’t have to be this way. Despite the choices others make, despite what happens in the world around us, we can feel peaceful, secure and loved.

Working with teens is my passion: the teen brain provides a great opportunity to learn life-long skills and healthy thinking patterns as adult emotions emerge. The past several years have thrown many challenges at our young ones and many of them are struggling with keeping up with school, friends, all while healing from so many changes! Therapy helps sort through difficult thoughts & feelings while teaching teens learn to advocate for their needs appropriately.

IF YOU are here, you are ready to face your demons. You’ve had experiences in life that still haunt you, like a bad childhood, a horrible break up, or the death of a loved one. You’ve been able to maintain a sense of normalcy, but underneath the surface you are in emotional pain & you can’t quite put your finger on it. You may have turned to alcohol or drugs numb the pain or feel alive. You know you’re a good person and have every reason to be happy, and yet you can’t seem to FEEL completely happy and well. There’s a disconnect between your mind and your heart/soul. Perhaps your intimate relationship is struggling too.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
