Hello and welcome! I feel honored to walk alongside others to provide comfort and support during difficult or overwhelming times in life. People have done that for me, and it has been instrumental in my life. We are not meant to live this life on our own, and if I can help shoulder some of the burden you may be carrying then I count myself blessed. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples , and families with a variety of mental health needs. I specialize in treating anxiety, problematic thinking patterns, depression, relationship issues, life transitions and PTSD.

You want to believe your friends or partner when they tell you, “I love you,” or, “you're a good person.
IF YOU are here, you are ready to face your demons. You’ve had experiences in life that still haunt you, like a bad childhood, a horrible break up, or the death of a loved one. You’ve been able to maintain a sense of normalcy, but underneath the surface you are in emotional pain & you can’t quite put your finger on it. You may have turned to alcohol or drugs numb the pain or feel alive. You know you’re a good person and have every reason to be happy, and yet you can’t seem to FEEL completely happy and well. There’s a disconnect between your mind and your heart/soul. Perhaps your intimate relationship is struggling too.

I build a relationship with each individual and truly care about the issues and stories clients present to me.
I have been told many times that I am easy to talk to. I look forward to working with individuals, families as well as children and adolescents to address a multitude of issues. Confronting negative patterns and building on strengths brings change as we work through contributing issues. Substance Abuse assessment and treatment also available. I have formed many relationships with court, county, legal and medical professionals to offer the best collaboration of care.

Areas of focus have been personal and relational upheaval around betrayal within a relationship .
Many of my clients say that, in one way or another, their life just seems disjointed, frustrating, overwhelming, lonely and confusing. Sometimes that is a description of their inner state of mind, or it could describe how they feel within their most personal relationships. Others report a significant life change that has thrown them off course. It could be a career crossroad, a traumatic event/upbringing or a relational struggle that brings them to seek therapy.

It’s so easy in this day and age to lose sight of one’s self and wake up one day and not recognize the person in the mirror. It’s my passion to come alongside those individuals or couples that have lost their way in life and need a listening ear or a fresh perspective. I firmly believe that every dry and painful season of life can be a springboard into hope for the next. It does not matter who you are, what’s been done or what you have done, there is hope.

We often need a trusting therapeutic relationship to process all this and more.
Hello! Are you wanting to start or continue the journey of self-exploration? Are you struggling with an issue and not sure the way forward? A lot of us out there don't feel like we can ask for or accept help, and we need to change the framework around this. Everyone is deserving of help and should get it when needed. Heck, we need it sometimes to get back up. Taking care of our mental health is pivotal to our happiness, growth, and success. My areas of expertise have been addictions/substance use, anxiety, depression, and men's issues.

At MMHI we provide therapy for Men, Women, Married & Non-Married Couples . Men are currently going through an identity crisis. Decades ago, men were appreciated, respected, and cherished for simply working and providing for their households. The expectations from partners/spouses, children, and members of the community, have shifted greatly for various reasons, leaving men in a lost space. This space will leave a man feeling unwanted, used, abused, and unloved - causing anxiety, depression, anger, resentment, infidelity, and other life damanging issues.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
