As a practicing counselor for 17 years, I have been able to walk alongside many individuals and couples as they move towards healing in different areas of their lives. I want each client to come out of our therapy time together with added value and tangible steps for integrating insights and creating change. At Reclaimed Counseling we have 4 counselors with varying specialties to meet the needs of our community.

You don't have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or simply ready for something to change, I'm here to meet you where you are and help you take the next step. I work with both children and adults and believe therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself, without judgment or pressure. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping clients recognize their strengths, build confidence, and discover that lasting change is possible, even when life feels difficult.

I strive to create a space where my clients feel truly seen, heard, and valued, exactly as you are. My approach is rooted in unconditional positive regard, compassion, curiosity and collaboration. I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to explore our inner world and supported enough to challenge what no longer serves us.

Taking that first step to begin counseling is not an easy task. It takes courage, and I have a deep respect for that. It is a privilege for me to come alongside you in your journey towards your goals, and I provide a safe space to help you achieve those goals. I believe our relationships and experiences throughout our lives shape how we think and act, so I consider all aspects of wellness in the therapeutic process: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational. I primarily use EFT, EFiT, Narrative Therapy, and SandTray therapy, but I incorporate and adjust therapies to meet the needs of each client.

Hello and welcome! I am a passionate therapist aiming to create a strengthened connection between the mind and body. Our body often remembers before we do, which can cause our reactions to adversity and trauma to feel like an over-reaction. Understanding our body and the experiences stored within it is an important ingredient in working through stored emotions and memories. Change can be difficult and overwhelming; Alan Watts once said, “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” I encourage you to make this journey yours, move with it and learn the dance that empowers you.

Adoption Therapists
Does my adopted child need therapy?
Not every adopted child needs therapy. However, many can benefit from seeing an adoption-informed therapist, especially if they were victims of abuse or neglect, appear withdrawn or disconnected, have behavioral or developmental issues (which may or may not be related to their adoption), are struggling with feelings of grief or loss surrounding their birth parents, or find it difficult to establish an identity, a challenge that often becomes most apparent during adolescence.

When should adoptive parents seek therapy?
Prospective parents can benefit from therapy even before an adoption—for example, to voice worries and fears; to reconcile infertility struggles, if relevant; or simply to prepare themselves for parenthood. After the adoption, parents who are struggling to bond with their child; are unsure how to talk about adoption or related issues, such as race; or whose child is dealing with developmental, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns can address these and other issues with the help of an adoption-competent therapist.

Is family therapy appropriate for adoptive families?
Family therapy can be invaluable for strengthening the bond between adoptive parents and children, helping the latter feel more secure in their place in the family. Family therapy can also help adoptive families navigate complex communication issues—for example, parents who feel uncomfortable discussing race with their child, who in turn feels invalidated by their silence, or a child who has questions about his birth parents but avoids asking them out of fear of hurting his adoptive parents’ feelings.

What therapy is not appropriate for adoption issues?
A discredited therapy known as “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy” or “rebirthing therapy”) should not be used to treat adopted and foster children, though it was largely designed for this population. Attachment therapy involves restraining, coercing, and punishing the child in order for them to “release” negative emotions and attach to their new caregivers—techniques that are abusive and dangerous and have even proven fatal in some cases.
