We can often feel controlled by our emotions, struggling to think clearly, and simply reacting, rather than directing our own life path. It can feel like a tornado of thoughts quickly swirling, leaving us feeling tense and discouraged that life could look any different. We usually just want everything to slow down and feel more at peace. The goal is to provide you with the tools for this to happen so you can move forward with confidence to live a more positive and balanced life.

I understand that it takes much strength to seek out assistance when needed. I believe we are not made to live in isolation, and we do best when we are part of a community. By recognizing the events that have formed us in life, we can learn from them and become a better version of ourselves.

My ideal client would be one who doesn’t know where to begin and is okay with some homework! You will be challenged. You will be moved. You will be loved. And you will have the Truth of scripture throughout our journey. We may not always agree, but you won’t get personal opinions without biblical support. You won’t get judged, just a steady dose of Truth. I will create a safe place to take a deep breath, look around and discover Truth. You will learn to discern lies, apply Truth, and connect with other travelers on the journey. You will be encouraged, immersed into the stories of others, and possibly inspired to contribute.

I specialize in working with people with all types of eating disorders, but I welcome anyone who is wanting to work through a difficult relationship with their body, maladaptive perfectionism, trauma, anxiety, and over-control. Clients will sometimes ask me, “can I talk about things other than an eating disorder in therapy?” The answer is an enthusiastic “Yes!” Think of this as talk therapy, but with someone who is very familiar with eating disorders.

Hello! My name is Gabrielle, and I specialize in working with teens and adults with anxiety and OCD, depression, and trauma-related needs. I believe in the power of connection, acceptance, and validation. So often we carry heavy burdens and pain without the opportunity or companion to process it all. Furthermore, we become highly skilled at moving forward and coping, but the original need and pain point(s) are still there. I utilize evidence-based practices, collaborative and client-centered goal-setting, and reflective talk therapy. I also provide practice assignments.

Life is a journey. However, our journeys often include interruptions as a result of experiences such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, issues resulting from trauma, loss, divorce, relationship issues, parenting issues, and issues with aging, to name a few. These experiences can negatively impact our thoughts, feelings, and behavior and our overall quality of life. It is important to know that your life does not have to remain negatively impacted by what has happened to you.

Are you feeling overwhelmed as a parent? Unsure who you can turn to for support and not knowing where to begin? I hear you. Raising children who struggle with emotional or behavioral struggles can make you feel defeated. As a therapist, I provide a safe and private environment to help you and your child manage these tough times. I am a licensed clinical social worker with immediate availability for scheduling. When I meet with children and teens, they feel that their feelings do not matter, making it challenging to identify and express them. This could sometimes mean turning their feelings inward or outward, which can be difficult

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
