I am the owner of Calm Mind Counseling. I enjoy working with adolescents, teens, adults, and families. Knowing the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy, my main priority is creating a safe space for you as the client. My experience began in a school setting, where I worked closely with kids and their families. I went on to gain further experience working in residential settings with at risk youth, as well as residential and partial hospitalization programming for eating disorders. I am highly skilled in trauma focused work, including EMDR therapy, as well as CBT and DBT.

Seeking help is the first step in the healing process. I understand the strength it takes to ask for help and attempt to move forward. Life can be challenging at times. During those times it can be difficult to understand what is happening around you. Having someone to help you through those challenges can be pivotal for change.

Whether you're facing trauma, anxiety, burnout, depression, or infertility and perinatal concerns, you deserve contentment—and a way forward.
Maybe you're a gifted kid who burned out after graduation. Or maybe you're trapped in people-pleasing and perfectionism. Maybe you never really get a break from the racing thoughts and worries, or you're still being tripped up by trauma or loss, or you're dealing with issues related to your religious or political group. It seems like no one fully gets what's going on with you, and even you don't understand it at times. There are problems you can't seem to fix, accept, or make meaning of. Regardless, you know life can be better than this, and you're tired of waiting for it to change.

Hello! Welcome! It has been my life’s joy and work to walk alongside people of all ages who for whatever reason have found themselves in the trenches. In my career as a counselor I have seen children heal from trauma, teenagers gain confidence through challenges, people who feel hopeless find new meaning and purpose in their lives and everything else in between. No matter what you may be facing, it is my belief and experience that each of us have more capacity for hope, healing and lasting change than we may yet realize.

Are you overwhelmed, exhausted, and can’t remember the last time you felt good? Maybe it seems like the treadmill of life never stops and you feel like you are always one second from falling off. You want to feel good in life. You want, desperately, to be present for the people you love and, even, maybe, for yourself. I am passionate about helping people move from pain, tension, and chaos into integration, wholeness, and freedom. I work with teens and adults to help them make sense of their experiences of pain, release the burdens that have been weighing them down, and find more joy.

My ideal client is someone who is functioning on the outside but knows something isn’t working the way it should. They may be a parent trying to better support a child with emotional or attention challenges, a teen or young adult struggling with anxiety, motivation, or school-related stress, or an adult who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or out of balance. Often, they are capable and insightful, but unsure how to translate that insight into lasting change. They want clarity, practical tools, and a better understanding of themselves or their child. Ultimately, they are seeking relief, stability, and a path forward that feels manageable.

You have a story and it matters. Does your story feel buried under everything you have been dealing with? Maybe you have experienced loss: death; end of a relationship; infertility; or loss of feeling safe. Maybe you’ve never felt like you truly fit, and you’re tired of masking, managing, and surviving. You don’t need to be fixed—you need to feel seen. It’s time to reclaim your voice and begin a chapter that finally feels like you.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
