I believe healing is like the ocean—sometimes calm, sometimes stormy, but always full of possibility. My passion is walking alongside people who are navigating the waves of neurodivergence and trauma, offering a safe shore where you can pause, breathe, and feel understood.

What? Me . . . traumatized? Surely it's not as bad as . .someone else and their experience. Trauma comes in many forms and disguises. The back part of the brain subconsciously feels we are in a battle or there's a bear in the cave. Our defenses/ways of coping and triggers arise in ways that aren't helpful or productive/controllable. Reactions/responses seem to come from out of nowhere. These can be signs/symptoms of depression, anxiety, and overwhelm. All can be addressed and shifted in counseling, particularly through EMDR. I am certified in that field and have found it to be life-changing for many.

I work with adolescents, and adults .
I believe that every individual holds an innate capacity for growth and self-understanding. My path to becoming a counselor was shaped by my own life experiences. Having raised four children and navigated significant personal struggles, I have learned firsthand that healing does not come from prescriptive formulas, but from being deeply heard and understood. My approach is grounded entirely in Person-Centered Therapy, popularized by Carl Rogers. I provide a non-judgmental, empathetic, and genuinely supportive environment. By walking alongside my clients rather than dictating their path, I help them uncover their own solutions.

You are the leading expert on your own life, but lately, it might feel like the plot has moved in a direction you didn't choose or feel like it is out of your control. Therapy is a space to look back at previous chapters with compassion and look forward to the next ones with intention. We will work together to: Deconstruct old narratives- Identify the stories you were told about yourself that no longer serve you, Navigate transitions- Manage the "plot twists" of life—grief, career shifts, or relationship changes. Edit the internal dialogue- Transform self-criticism into a voice that supports your growth.

You might feel alone in this struggle but you don’t have to be. My work, which has been shaped by my own experiences of suffering and clinical training, is more than a career, it is a calling. I help people move from simply surviving to living with intention, calm, and confidence. I work with those struggling with OCD, anxiety, PTSD, or depression. I also have a background in working with parents who are experiencing challenging situations. Whenever I work with children, I work with the caregivers as well in order to improve family unity and create lasting change.

Are you feeling alone or unsure whether anyone will understand what you’re going through? Maybe you’ve tried to feel better on your own, only to find that relief hasn’t come. When this happens, it can feel discouraging and overwhelming. You’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate this by yourself. I understand how hard it can be to reach out for support, and I bring both professional and personal experience to each session. I’ve been supporting people for over 20 years and specialize in treating eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and other eating concerns), as well as anxiety and depression, tailored to you.

You are worthy of a peaceful, fulfilling, meaningful life. If you're struggling with emotional pain, insecurities, past trauma, or intrusive thoughts, you're not alone. You may find that the ways you have learned to handle these challenges are not moving your life in the direction you want. People-pleasing, perfectionism, and self-sabotaging are among many ways people cope. If you want to make a change, but don’t know how, therapy can help. You deserve to be seen and understood, and you don’t have to do this alone.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
