I have over 15 experiences experience working in a variety of treatment settings, both civilian and military. I have experience treating clients with issues related to trauma, depression, mood, anxiety, impulse control, grief - loss, personality, psychosis, more. Over the years and after receiving thousands of initial calls and emails from clients, it is clear that many are unsure of what they need or where to go. I have been working in the field of counseling for 25+ years. I have had the pleasure of working with individuals from many walks of life with various issues. I have worked with very diverse populations including federal pre-trial, post-conviction and probation clients, all areas of substance abuse issues, drug testing, anger management, EAP services, rapid response emergency services, grief/loss, domestic violence, family services, marital, youth, and spiritual counseling. I have extensive experience working in the area of high conflict co-parenting-divorce issues .

Elwin is trauma and PTSD informed and trained to treat trauma. He is a clinician that practices integrated behavioral health, and mental health care. Elwin also utilizes a holistic approach that considers the physical health, biological, behavioral health, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of his clients. Elwin is strength based as a psychotherapist.

My ideal client would be a motivated adult individual willing to "put in the work" to obtain their therapeutic goals. This individual might struggle with a myriad of mental health issues (depression, anxiety, addiction, self-harm, suicidal ideation, etc.) and have a wide array of needs and goals (self-esteem building, psychoeducation, organizational skills, coping mechanisms, etc.). This client is prepared to be honest with themselves in therapy to identify thought patterns and/or behaviors that they may be participating in that are hindering them from having a healthy mental state.

My ideal client issues would would be a client suffering from understanding themselves. Whether that would be their lack of why they can't trust anyone or get close to someone, understanding why they may be quick to react, or having hidden memories that they can not understand. The goal is have the client realize that this was a learned behavior and perhaps this was displayed with their family. The client wants someone to listen and not judge, they want to simply understand there thoughts and for a connection to be made.
