In therapy, I like to start by building a foundation, so you'll feel comfortable sharing your obsessions, triggers, and compulsions.
This training enables us to help you manage the distress caused by your obsessions and practice resisting compulsions when uncomfortable thoughts arise. When you start with NOCD Therapy, you’ll either work with me or be paired with one of my colleagues based on your preference and availability.

I have particular experience and knowledge around OCD and anxiety disorders, but have worked with many presentations in many contexts.
Being alive is no easy thing. Internal and external circumstances can make existence very trying, but I believe in the perseverance of the human spirit. It's my job is to create a holding environment where we can tap into that. I use a collaborative, client-centered approach and draw on my clinical experience working in a variety of settings to apply interventions in a way that honors your entire context. I operate under the assumption that you know yourself best, but I'm here to offer my knowledge and care as rudders to collaboratively arrive at a place of hope. As Joe Strummer once said, "People can change anything they want to."

I particularly enjoy helping individuals overcome anxiety, perfectionism in academics, sports, or their career, and those struggling the OCD.
Life comes with so many emotions. Some days we experience joy and happiness. Other days we are stuck in a loop of anxiety, apathy, or grief. Even though we all wish it did, life doesn’t come with a clear roadmap towards happiness, success, or contentment. I love helping kids, adolescents, adults, and couples forge their own path towards happiness, whatever that looks like for them and individually tailor therapy so each client can reach their goals and grow toward a happy and balanced life.

It is amazing observing the improvements clients can feel in their anxiety as we work through their core fears and frustrating obsessions/ compulsions.
Being able to sit in the room and be present with whoever is sitting across from me is something I am incredibly passionate about. Being able to work with a wide variety of ages, personalities, and mental health diagnoses only makes my job that much more interesting and engaging for me. I don't think I'm able to name 'my ideal client' because I don't think I have one. I want to be able to help whoever I can with any and all of the strategies and tools that we can come up with together, in the room. It's all about showing up however each and every one of my clients' needs me to show up.

I offer specialized treatment tailored to neurodivergent individuals with ADHD, anxiety, autism, and OCD, and those within the LGBTQ community.
Many of the adults I work with across Indiana, Florida, Chicago, and Northern Virginia appear capable and accomplished on the outside but feel privately overwhelmed. Some were recently diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood; others are questioning whether years of anxiety, burnout, or self-doubt have masked neurodivergence. You may be juggling a demanding career while struggling with executive dysfunction, chronic procrastination, emotional intensity, or the quiet shame of feeling “behind” despite working twice as hard.

Do you wish that your brain came with an owner's manual? Have your compulsive habits made a mess of your health and your relationships? Does a difficult past keep intruding on your present? I am here to help! My clients start counseling because they feel stuck in patterns of harmful behaviors and negative thinking. They can see where they want to go in life, they just can't seem to make the lasting changes that would allow them to get there. Frequently, they describe feeling overwhelmed and hopeless, unsure that things can ever really improve. Let me help you get unstuck!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
