I specialize in providing premium, individualized therapy for athletes, high-achieving young adults, and BIPOC individuals navigating sports performance anxiety, identity transitions, and the complexities of high achievement.
Are you the athlete who looks unstoppable on the surface but battles self-doubt when no one's watching? Maybe you're navigating a major transition—changing teams, retiring from sport, or figuring out who you are beyond your performance. You might be carrying the weight of being "the only one" in spaces where you don't see yourself reflected. You're tired of generic advice and need someone who understands the unique pressures of competition, perfectionism, and proving yourself in environments that weren't built for you. You want a therapist who won't minimize your experience or tell you to "just think positive". I actually get it.

With the growing demands of competitive sports, academic pressure, and personal development, many athletes benefit greatly from a space to process stress, build resilience, and strengthen their mental well-being.
Life is full of various challenges that can be difficult to navigate alone. I am here to create a comfortable and open environment where individuals feel both safe and heard. I have experience working with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relational issues. I also specialize in athletic counseling where I focus on addressing performance anxiety, injury recovery, transitioning out of a sport, perfectionism, and burnout. I'm currently under supervision as I work towards obtaining full licensure in mental health counseling.

As a counselor, I believe in the transformative power of insight as the foundation for meaningful change. My approach centers on helping clients uncover the precursors to their struggles, whether rooted in past experiences, deeply held beliefs, or automatic thought patterns. Through compassionate exploration, I assist individuals in identifying the underlying factors contributing to their current symptoms, fostering self-awareness that serves as a catalyst for growth. I emphasize the importance of this initial realization, helping clients connect with their reasons for change and the motivation that drives them forward.

We also recognize a gap in the conversation around mental health in sports.
At Felt Sense, we believe that mental health is foundational—not optional. Life can often feel like a roller coaster. The pressure to perform in various areas of life can feel heavy and difficult. We all have personal and relational things impacting our lives no matter what stage of life we are in. I understand that it's difficult to ask for help and yet I know from personal experience the first step toward healing can be reaching out to someone who is able and willing to listen and walk the journey with you for a time.

I currently have limited space for new clients. For therapy to be effective, it must be an open and collaborative approach that is built on trust. The first step toward change is huge and can be intimidating. Together, we can work to identify potential solutions and map out ways to navigate the changes you are seeking. As a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I have extensive experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults on issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, burnout, sport performance, and other more serious concerns.

Additionally, I completed a master's degree at University of Virginia in sports psychology.
As a parent and psychologist, I enjoy supporting children as they grow and strive to be their best. At the same time, I realize that the maturation process is not always easy and both children and parents often need outside supports. Emphasizing a collaborative process with my clients and their relevant care providers, I value working together to establish goals, individualize treatment, and evaluate progress. My services include providing short and long-term therapy with children, adolescents, and young adults to treat problems involving anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relational/social concerns, ADHD, adjustment problems, and family issues.

Sports Performance Therapists
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
