I believe that while pain is inevitable, suffering is not. Suffering is pain plus all the reactions, feelings, judgments, and ways of coping that add to the experience of pain. No one wants pain or suffering, but what if your methods for dealing with them haven’t worked—and may even have complicated matters? Welcome to the human race!—and to therapy where a professional perspective makes the difference.

Life is hard and it doesn't always let us catch our breath before the next thing comes. Perhaps you need some help finding a solution for the next step or maybe you just need someone to listen to you and show some empathy. Sometimes you don't understand why you get so angry, irritable, or emotional about the small inconveniences that come up in life and maybe you'd like to be more mindful and in control of your emotions/reactions. Whether it be someone to listen to you, someone to find a solution with, or just to get back control of your life so you can be the expert of it, I can help.

Hi there! I enjoy working with clients, adults and children alike, as they process through trauma and work through grief, anxiety, depression, and attachment wounds. Whether you consider the trauma you may have experienced "big T" or "little t", your pain and emotions are valid. I enjoy supporting clients as they work to challenge the negative core beliefs they've developed about themselves and the world that they find are no longer helping them and, instead, are holding them back from being able to live the life they want to live.

Everyone has a story with ups and downs, twists and turns, hopes and disappointments. Being alive is about doing what you care about, in service of your values, while accepting and thriving through your story’s plot twists. I enjoy helping people make sense of their story and to set free their free will, so as to live in the freedom of your chosen values. In addition to my Masters in Social Work, I also have a Master of Arts in Theology. While I will honor every client’s personal/spiritual beliefs as valid and their own, clients that wish to include their Catholic/Christian values will find the support they are looking for.

There are moments when life can feel overwhelming - tension in a close relationship, anxiety about "being good enough," or the challenge of maintaining motivation. As if experiencing these hardships wasn't hard enough, life's busyness often makes it difficult to find time to process let alone address them. Here we find the beauty of counseling - it offers two much needed things: time and space. Time where you can put down your walls, expressing what's really on your mind; and a space where you know you will be heard.

Does it feel like all you are doing is doggy paddling in the ocean, trying to keep your head above water? It feels like relationships are anchoring you down, and life events are giant waves pushing you under. Reaching out for help can feel scary. I hope to help you learn to surf the waves, implement coping skills, and feel in control of your life. Through therapy, you can learn to process and embrace your past and look forward to your future. I hope you can learn about yourself and start loving and accepting all parts of you. I am committed to providing affirming care and honoring those who come from marginalized identities.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’re navigating anxiety or depression, carrying the weight of past experiences, or facing a major life transition. Maybe you’re carrying shame, struggling with self-worth, or feeling weighed down by expectations. I support clients navigating mood concerns, grief and loss, past trauma, challenging relationships, ADHD, burnout, and more. I have a particular passion working with women and young adults as they explore areas of identity and purpose.

I work with a variety of individuals, couples, and families dealing with such problems as anxiety, depression, stress management, and relationship difficulties. One of my special interests is assisting clients with improving their decision-making in important life areas. Recently I published a book on judgment and ways to enhance it. I am also experienced in providing psychological evaluations for assessment of attention deficit disorders, fitness for bariatric surgery, and court-related issues. I look forward to helping others explore strategies to enhance well-being and lead more fulfilling lives.

I help academically thriving Black teens (13-17) & young adults (18-33) reconnect to themselves so that they can reduce stress, build confidence, and cultivate a positive raical identity (even if on the outside they appear to have it all figured out, and especially if they attend predominately white schools or institutions). I also provide single coaching sessions for caregivers of these students if needed. I understand that Black students experience stress, anxiety, perfectionism, and life pressures through an additional lens impacted by historical legacies and current issues of racism, discrimination, and prejudice.

As a therapist, I am most excited to see clients motivated to explore their unknown strengths, widen their horizons, increase their abilities to make informed decisions and lead a life of meaning as they define it. Everyone I have worked with brings to therapy a foundation upon which to grow. Regardless of the problem, an enhanced sense of self is possible. Instilling hope of something better in life is one of my greatest motivations, and assisting others in achieving their goals drew me to this profession.
