INDY Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback changed my family's life. Having observed first hand this life changing therapy, I felt convicted to make this available in Indiana. There is no reason for most to suffer from insomnia , anxiety, depression, ADHD, pain, migraines or a host of other ailments. Most are not inherently or irrevocably flawed. Instead, many of the problems that plague us are a case of "operator error". INDY Neurofeedback offers hope for true health - not a "bandage" with potentially harmful side effects or coping skills. How wonderful, that what amounts to exercises for the brain can permanently effect such change!"

These wounds often surface in our lives as addictions, compulsions, marital discord, depression, chronic unhappiness, anxiety, disturbance of sleep , and a distorted view of ourselves and those around us.
If you have questioned why you are not experiencing life to the fullest, if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, addictions, compulsions or life controlling issues, or your relationships are not working as you had intended, I would love to help you find answers. I have worked with individuals, children, and adolescents, through out my career to help individuals and their families receive emotional healing. Historically, I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, substance abuse treatment centers, as well as individual outpatient settings. When you contact me I will work with you to develop a course of treatment that is best for you and your family.

Sometimes we feel sad, lonely, anxious, scared, worried, angry or maybe even unsure exactly how we feel, but something feels off. Sometimes when we are really upset we start to feel physical symptoms in our bodies. Sometimes we can feel very irritable or even have outbursts of anger. Sometimes we just can’t stop thinking about something that happened and other times we don’t want to think about it at all. Sometimes we notice ourselves becoming disconnected from others or just not doing what we used to enjoy doing. Sometimes we can’t sleep even if we really want to and feel tired.

I am a licensed therapist with a Masters in Social Work. My degree has given me the fundamentals necessary to embark on the journey of becoming a licensed mental health therapist. It has helped me learn to identify what people think and how they react to different situations. It also helped me to recognize the appropriate way of dealing with people and helping them without making them feel uncomfortable. Making sure my client’s understand their own problems properly while involving them in preparation for a plan of action is a goal I as a therapist strive for.

I am so glad that our paths have crossed. Seeking help takes courage and we all need it from time to time. I view counseling as a relatively short term investment that yields a lifetime of value. In my personal and professional experience I have found that it usually takes a third party to help identify and challenge problematic patterns that keep us hurting and stuck. In this way, counseling helps you to develop new ways of thinking about and responding to life's inevitable challenges. Please feel free to browse www.threestonescounseling.com to find out more.

Not currently able to accept new clients and wait list is closed. My passion is helping adults (age 18 and over) heal from trauma and connect to themselves holistically. You are the expert of your experience and my job is to help guide you compassionately. I have a deep reverence and admiration for my clients’ ability to heal through processing stress, trauma, shame, and conflict. I believe that people experience the most growth in a nonjudgmental environment where you can fully connect to yourself and gain an understanding of all your needs. Maybe you need a space to be curious, creative, or express yourself?

How long have you been hearing the call to a different way of being with yourself and the world? It might just be the quiet whispering of your heart urging you to something more. Or perhaps the whole universe is shouting that something has got to change, you can’t keep living like this. Avoiding our fear of change can keep us stuck. But your capacity to heal is only limited by your beliefs about what is possible. Genuinely transformational work is ultimately a mix of intentional effort and surprising playfulness. It’s about engaging your inner life in new and creative ways in the safe space of a trusted relationship.

It's uncomfortable to reach out for help, to reveal our pain and personal matters to anyone, let alone a stranger. This is why my priority is creating a safe, judgment free space to build a genuine connection with my clients. In addition to developing strategies to relieve immediate distress, I apply my 15 years in mental health, from home-based to hospital crisis work, to help you identify the reasons behind your struggles and resolve the underlying causes. This provides the framework for positive growth and a deeper understanding of oneself, for lasting results.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
