I’m LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, BIPOC allied, HAES centered, Kink/BDSM positive, creating an intentional space for affirming self-exploration.
Hi there! I’m CP, and I’m here partner with you on your path to self-compassion and growth. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you—it’s a safe space to explore, ask questions, and reconnect with your authentic self. If you’re feeling mentally overwhelmed, emotionally numb, or physically burned out, we can work together to help you express yourself fully and find balance. I'm particularly passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ folks and survivors of interpersonal trauma. I'm also currently pursuing my Sexual Health Association (SHA) certification to become a certified Sex Therapist to pair with my experience being a Sex Educator.

My practice has always sought to support and empower marginalized people, specifically: queer and transgender people, people of color, sex workers, folks living with housing insecurity, and those affected by the prison system. I came to this work through punk, harm reduction, and grassroots organizing. I am a queer, gender non-conforming, biracial (white-presenting) abolitionist from a multicultural family. Because of lived experience, I remain committed to bringing a trauma-informed liberatory praxis into my work.

As guys, we don't really like to talk about it. You know, the stress, the dissatisfaction with our lives, our relationships, our jobs. Hitting that point in life where things just aren't what we thought they were supposed to be. So we shut down. We get angry and irritable. We stuff it down because we're never supposed to let them see us sweat. The problem is we end up exhausted, frustrated, and just plain lost. But if you want to find your way again, you've got to stop and ask for directions at some point, right?

Are you and your partner in conflict about sex? Maybe you disagree about how much sex is "enough;" maybe you are feeling rejected or misunderstood by your partner. Maybe a sexual dysfunction, a history of sexual trauma, or shame around sex is making sex feel impossible. And now that you have fought about the topic, which is a vulnerable one, solving the problem feels all the more tender and insurmountable. Many life changes can impact our sex lives, and partners can struggle to navigate these changes when they impact our sense of connection, intimacy, and validation. Engaging in sex therapy with your partner can help!

Hi, I'm Kim O'Connell-Whether you’re navigating challenges on your own or with a partner, you may feel stuck in painful patterns—cycles of conflict, avoidance, or overwhelm that leave you frustrated, anxious, or disconnected. Maybe ADHD, perfectionism, or identity shifts make it hard to feel grounded, or relationship struggles make it difficult to communicate effectively or feel close. My clients want a steady, compassionate space to process struggles, practice new ways of relating, and strengthen connection. Many hope to feel understood, regain trust in themselves and others, and carry insights and skills into their daily lives.

It can be difficult to talk about mental health and illness. Sometimes we feel as though no one is truly listening when we ask for help. Whether you are struggling to push back against overwhelming despair, fears of tomorrow, or crushing sadness due to loss, I am listening. If it is your own, private journey or perhaps difficulties with a relationship, I am listening. Maybe you aren't sure what is real and what isn't, or maybe you feel trapped in a body that is not you, I am listening. Perhaps you have been shunned or turned away by friends and family simply because of who you are. I am listening.

I never thought of it like that... This a phrase I often hear from my clients as I challenge them to think outside the box and embrace different perspectives and approaches. It's essential to ensure your unique story is known, seen, and heard. . I help children, adolescents, and adults learn to identify and express their feelings and develop coping strategies to deal with difficult situations. Also, if interested, I offer animal therapy with the adorable ICAN therapy dog, Levi (see pic below), providing unique support in our healing work together. "Healing is an art. It takes time, it takes practice. It takes love." - Maza Dohta

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists

Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?

A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?

Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?

An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?

Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
