Clients most often seek services with me to address sexual abuse/assault, intimate partner abuse, alcohol and drug issues, family conflict, parenting, separation and loss, secondary trauma, stress, and emotional regulation related to depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Look, I’ve been through it, still going through it, and want to help you through it too. As a therapist with my own therapist, I have come to the conclusion that self-care is more than bubble baths and face masks. Another form of self-care is talking with a therapist. I became a caregiver at an early age and lost my brother to addiction.  I wished he had a safe space to lay down his inner world.  My past brought me here to help you. My insight into dysfunctional families is drawn not only from personal experience but also from having helped other families and individuals discover peace within chaos.

I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, OCD, high achievers, burnout, perfectionism, grief, parenting, and coping with chronic illnesses.
Feeling stuck and having trouble engaging in what really matters to you? Your brain has done an excellent job keeping you safe, but old strategies developed as a reaction to stressors may no longer meet your needs. Issues like family of origin discord, medical illnesses, unidentified neurodivergence, and mismatched work environments can all add up to impact our relationship with ourselves and others. I am a PDA, EDS, ARFID, POTS, and MCAS informed clinician. I especially love working with high achieving adults who have issues with perfectionism, burnout, dissociation, procrastination and later in life neurocomplex diagnoses.

In addition I am also a parent and a caretaker to elderly parents so I have a wide range of life experience from which to draw.
My approach is to understand my client through a complete history of childhood and adult experiences so that we can together explore how the client perceives the world. Sometimes experiences can cause clients to be anxious, defensive or make poor choices. I hope to help clients see how these approaches may have been useful in other times in life but may be less useful now. Sometimes a new approach to thinking is helpful. Other times insight and being understood can promote change. This approach also works with both parties in a couple to help regain trust and form new ways of relating.

PARENTS: When working with youth, I require parent(s) to attend regularly so WE can do work too.
I work with individuals navigating difficult feelings or behaviors, couples facing intense conflict, & kids/parents who are struggling. Regardless the situation, from day one, I'll bring my authentic self to the room. That includes compassion, directness, and maybe even some occasional humor.

I also offer the option of traditional talk therapy to work through parenting, pregnancy, anxiety, depression, and life changes.
Art therapy works on a deeper level reaching the subconscious mind. This can be especially beneficial when verbal processing is challenging or not yet developed due to age, or speaking with someone face-to-face feels too intimidating.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
