Parenting a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming, isolating, and confusing — especially when you’re trying to break patterns from your own childhood at the same time. You don’t have to navigate that alone. My approach blends attachment, trauma-informed care, and practical tools so change feels doable and not just talked about. Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and focused on helping your family function with more clarity and compassion.

For parents, I pride myself on being able to empower them with the skills to parent children who present unique challenges. For children and teens, I provide a safe place where they can share their experiences and increase their skill sets.

Say hello to hope, strength and peace. My goal is to assist my clients in navigating the challenges that life presents to each of us. Our minds can become stuck in the “on” position when we are overwhelmed by unexpected changes or disappointments in daily life. Life can become difficult. When our fear network is in overdrive, we can experience a wide range of negative emotions My goal as your therapist is to work with you collaboratively, to disarm and dispel unhelpful ways of coping with life challenges. I believe in your ideas. I feel privileged to set sail with you on a journey to regain your serenity.

I am passionate about working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities and supporting their families as they navigate home, school, and community. I believe strongly that our goal should never be to "cure" the individual with autism or make them fit the world but rather to help them be their most successful self by providing education, support, and accommodations as necessary. I also believe that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, and each individual and family should be provided with supports that are tailored to them and are evaluated regularly as they grow and develop.

Life surprises us sometimes… In those moments it is helpful to have someone to come alongside us to provide genuine presence, professionalism and expertise, balanced with compassion, to help through times of transition, trauma or growth. I am passionate about offering encouragement, steps for healing and coping, insight, psychoeducation and interpretation when families are struggling to understand one another. Learning how to navigate life’s courses with sensitivity, kindness and realistic perspective can be more easily undertaken in a therapeutic forum that is accepting and direct. Office, teletherapy, walk/talk or home based.

I have helped many people from ages 12 to 80+ 'weather a personal crisis' regardless of circumstances; in addition, I have acquired special, training in working with returning military personnel in coping with their re-entry issues as well as helping them take 'next steps'. I am also an expert in career 'direction' as well as 'redirection', and regardless of age, I seek those people as clients who desire to become or retain an 'open mind'! I encourage 'self-esteem' as a precious commodity and promote one's own goals and personal values as their keys to happiness.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists
Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
