I have helped many people from ages 12 to 80+ 'weather a personal crisis' regardless of circumstances; in addition, I have acquired special, training in working with returning military personnel in coping with their re-entry issues as well as helping them take 'next steps'. I am also an expert in career 'direction' as well as 'redirection', and regardless of age, I seek those people as clients who desire to become or retain an 'open mind'! I encourage 'self-esteem' as a precious commodity and promote one's own goals and personal values as their keys to happiness.

As an eclectic therapist, I have extensive training in and am highly competent utilizing multiple therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, DBT, CBT, IFS, and Somatic practices.
On the outside, you’ve got it all together. You’re a “problem-solver”, driven, and dependable. But the inside is a different story. You feel riddled with anxiety. Or maybe you feel numb. Maybe you’re wondering how you can be so strong and confident at some times but feel helplessness and despair at others. You tell yourself that you “should” feel happy, but you don’t. Despite all of your best efforts, here you are- looking for a therapist. Hi, I’m Alison. I can help you.

You may be used to holding it all together on the outside - while internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you are or what you need. Maybe you're the "strong one" for others, yet feel disconnected from yourself. If you’re feeling stuck in patterns, navigating identity, or struggling in relationships, you don’t have to do it alone. I work with adults and teens navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and identity exploration, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. My approach is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in creating a space where you can feel understood, supported, and more connected to self.

I am passionate about meeting people in the mess of life and working together towards productive and positive outcome. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathy. Therapy is a place where unconditional positive regard and increased awareness of the present understanding and past learning can help us move through our difficulties into a space that allows for compassion and acceptance of the self, which leads to the confidence to walk with purpose toward a better future.

When we have been through difficult things, oftentimes we feel misunderstood, unheard, unsafe and hopeless. I do not believe that trauma makes us stronger; rather, I believe that there is something beautiful within us that brings us through the trauma. Trauma processing allows us to let go of negative beliefs about ourselves and the world; beliefs such as “I am not safe,” or “I am unlovable.” These beliefs can make us feel stuck; like having a rich and full life is not possible. As your therapist, I will work to empower you to accept all parts of self, allowing for peace from within that will trickle into all facets of life.
