We work with grief/ loss not just specific to a death.
Let's ignite your motive to unlock your potential! Catchy slogan huh? Okay but seriously, do you ever say “this is just me” or “this is just how I act”? Fun fact, there is a “motive” behind every action and behavior that you do. Our motives are a reflection of what we’ve been through, what we are going through, or sometimes what we fear for our future. All reasons to seek therapy to better understand yourself. Your first assignment is to sit in silence and ask yourself two questions: Why do I think I act/behave the way that I do? Am I ready to unlock the potential reasons why? Hint- reflect on your childhood.

Grief is uncomfortable and raw, but part of the human condition as we experience both the small and profound losses in life.
Contrary to popular belief, time doesn't heal all wounds; it's what you do with that time that makes the difference. I am committed to helping my clients face the sadness, anger, anxiety, guilt, and fear that is grief, learn to integrate the losses and carry them more softly in the hope that life will once again have meaning and even joy.

Every person that comes into therapy has his or her own story that is unique, significant, and has helped contribute to the development of the person. An important aspect of therapy is to understand and respect the client’s story and see it in the context of their lives. I believe that in understanding the self and their story in collaboration with the therapist true change can occur.

Therapy can create safe ground to weave the body and mind. Providing presence and compassion to the body, our minds can access awareness of thoughts, emotions, and subconscious beliefs that shape our reality. It can also access infinite knowledge, strength and resources. We experience unity, interconnectedness and wholeness, we live fully, which is our birthright.

I enjoy working with clients who come to me in crisis with some awareness that their existing coping resources and skills have been overwhelmed to the point they need some help to grow through the situation. Though it typically begins concretely with stress and conflict management, this work often deepens into fruitful reexamination of personal values, family dynamics, problematic relationship patterns, and existential or spiritual themes. I see individual problems as often having been forged in the crucible of one's family of origin, which has often severely limited one's ability to respond well to all of life's demands.

They may be struggling to find meaning and purpose in this life stage, grieving multiple kinds of losses, finding navigating relationships with adult children challenging, not sleeping well, or trying to cope with physical pain and other health issues.
I began my work as a mental health professional working primarily with children in a school setting. After a professional hiatus to home-educate and raise my children, I returned to work part-time as a psychotherapist with older adults living in assisted living and nursing facilities and learned that I love working with people in this life stage. It is a privilege to hear life stories and glean from the wisdom of those who are further along life's journey. It is also an honor to be trusted to assist in navigating the loneliness, losses, and transitions that older adults can sometimes experience.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
