While I will honor every client’s personal/spiritual beliefs as valid and their own, clients that wish to include their Catholic/ Christian values will find the support they are looking for.
I use a combination of ACT, EMDR, CBT, and Narrative Therapies that has been shown to be effective for a wide range of challenges including: PTSD, OCD, Depression, Anxiety, and Addictions. In addition, much of the work I do is with Pornography Addiction for those wishing to live according to their values.

I will honor your Christian worldview.
Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I also offer counseling from a Christian perspective upon request.
Life can be hard, messy, and complicated but can also be filled with joy, peace, and true connection with others. We all go through struggles and challenges in our lives and sometimes we just need someone to walk alongside us during the journey. I enjoy working with individuals to elicit the change necessary to heal, grow, and live more fulfilled lives. I would be honored to walk alongside and be that person for you.

If you're interested, I can also include aspects of Christian faith in our work together.
You and your partner used to feel connected and have fun together, but lately, you experience more tension than fun. More of your fights seem to linger or fester, and communication in general is off. The distance between you keeps growing, and you have started to feel alone in your marriage. It seems like your partner doesn’t see you sometimes, let alone know what you want or need. Admittedly, it’s hard to know what you want or need when you are constantly taking care of the people around you. You miss your partner and you want to have a better relationship together, you just can't figure out how to get there.

I’m also a Christian, but with a progressive and open approach, and I welcome all belief systems.
Hello Friend! I’m really glad you found my profile, and I’d love to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and I’ve spent most of my career in community mental health. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life—children, adults, and older adults—each with their own unique stories and struggles. A lot of my work has been with individuals facing addiction, but I also have a passion for helping those dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Most clients see symptoms improve rather quickly and value my Christian approach.
Hi, I am Dr. Angela Jackson, owner of Culturally Competent Therapy, which specializes in building trust with clients so they are prepared to do their life work. Clients, often including licensed therapists, report feeling accepted to be themselves and challenged to work. Approaches include culturally sensitive cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches that may challenge the client's belief system. I enjoy helping clients of all backgrounds discover the root of their problems and understanding the value of cultural factors such as family, race, socio-economic status, work/career demands, and integration of faith.

It can be a chaotic world out there. The demands of work, financial struggles, unresolved grief, and constant stress can profoundly affect our emotional and relational well-being. Sometimes, we need someone to come alongside us and guide us toward a better path. Hi, I'm Teresa. I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, and author. I'm also a marriage and family therapist in private practice, with a heart for helping others achieve the emotional and relational well-being they've always desired. I am also a licensed ordained Christian Pastor
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Is your family in crisis and don't know where to start? You have already done the hard part by reading this profile. Calling a therapist can be dreadful but I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be. My main goal is to help you and your family get to a place of 'peace.'

I am a Christian therapist that strives to help couples, individuals and families in their walks with life.
The clients that I see are struggling with how to get and give the love they want and need. Most clients that I work with have a deep desire to feel heard and understood in their intimate relationships. Some clients become lost and struggle with anxiety and depression when feelings of shame, guilt and abandonment come into play. They need someone to help them understand their pain and walk with them as they transform their lives.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
