Maybe you vacillate between panic & feeling numb/shut down?
If you think, "something's gotta give," it might be time for a non-religious, psychospiritual lens. If surviving the high-control religion/cult life still has you feeling intense guilt & shame just for being human, I can help you learn to trust yourself. You may not always feel peaceful, but you can learn how to manage that in healthy ways.

Anxiety and OCD can take up so much space in a child’s world.
I use evidence-based practices such as CBT, ERP, and ACT to help kids gradually face fears and build self-esteem. My style is warm and collaborative, and I naturally connect with children in ways that help them feel safe and understood. I value bringing creativity, kindness, and fun into therapy so your child can feel more like themselves.

Yet, sometimes this can be obscured due to stress, anxiety and/or depression and can result in behaviors that keep people from living their most fulfilled life.
The first session will be an intake, where I will go in-depth to learn about current issues that you are facing, and how your past and current situation affects your attempt to deal with these issues. Once I get to know more about you, we work together to tailor an effective therapeutic approach to your specific needs and set achievable goals.

I specialize in treating addiction, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues for adults and adolescents.
Are you feeling stuck in your life? Do you feel mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically exhausted, confused, or disconnected? It's easy to get stuck in our patterns, ways of functioning in life become habitual, and often these patterns become damaging to us- personally and relationally. What's more, it's not always easy to see exactly where we are getting stuck and how to move beyond that place. I offer support, encouragement, and trust as you begin a new journey toward healing and growth.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
