Dealing with addiction can be an overwhelming experience that is filled with starts and stops and can often leave you hopeless and uncertain about the future. In many ways, addiction is like a bad relationship; the longer you remain in it, the worse it gets. Change is possible, but you do not need to go it alone. I will provide a therapeutic space that will meet you where you are and help you to discover the possibility of a better future.

You don't just need more insight-you need a strategy. You don't have to wait to feel better. People that I work with usually go from upset and overwhelmed to more stable, happy, and connected to others within 8-12 sessions. I provide the warm and supportive environment needed for clients to learn that they don't have to be at the mercy of their moods. Whether you're struggling with addiction, anxiety or depression, grieving a loss, or navigating the challenges of relationships, I can support you as you learn to take control of your mental health. I especially love helping people who don't feel at home in traditional recovery.

I help clients imagine and create their best lives by exploring how past influences and patterns may be holding them back or blocking their paths. Together we’ll explore how your thoughts determine your feelings and behavior (cognitive behavioral therapy). We’ll also talk about the influential forces behind your long-term relationships (attachment theory), and how early relationships and decisions made as a child may be impacting your personality today (IFS). I am a certified EMDR practitioner. As a wife of 35 years with adult children, I come to you from a place of genuine compassion and understanding for the complexities of life.

Hi, my name is Peg Black. We identify issues that have brought you in to therapy. Also, it helps to identify a purpose and what outcome you wish to have. Often in talking sometimes the client knows the answer but difficult to follow through. I do active listening and ask you if I have the correct issue at hand. I primarily use CBT, I obtained my master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. I am also a licensed clinical social worker. I started in the field When I was an undergraduate at Being for almost 50 years, I have a history of working in multiple settings helping people identify their goals and passions.

Hi there! I’m Soni — a proud Traders Point native and graduate of Covenant Christian High School, Purdue University, and Butler University. My journey into the world of therapy has been shaped by deep-rooted connections to my community and a lifelong passion for helping others discover their inner strength. In my downtime, you’ll likely find me belting out Disney karaoke, binge-watching classic TV shows like I Love Lucy or I Dream of Jeannie, wandering Eagle Creek, enjoying quiet evenings with my family, or cozied up at home with my two beloved cats. These small joys ground me — and I believe in helping my clients find theirs too.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
