Although I have worked with clients with many different presenting problems, I specialize in helping individuals with anxiety , trauma, phobias, and traumatic grief.
Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be extremely debilitating, potentially causing strain or loss of relationships, loss of opportunities, restrictions and limitations on activities and daily life, negative impact on health, nightmares, flashbacks, and many other life altering effects. You may find yourself avoiding certain places, people, or memories. You may re-experience your trauma through nightmares and flashbacks. I predominantly work with kids, teens, & young adults to help them to navigate significant life changes, develop coping skills for anxiety /depression, or learn about ways to thrive while being neurodivergent, specifically those who have autism.
I pride myself on creating a relaxed, informal, and compassionate space for all of my clients. Wear pajamas, bring a coffee, cozy up on the couch, and let’s figure it out together. Therapy is all about giving you the tools you need. Whether it be coping with stressors of daily life, processing difficult events, shaping your future, adjusting to change or simply learning more about yourself - I am here to help. I create a safe and comforting environment to bring your thoughts, feelings, fears , and joys to.
I am so glad you decided to take time to invest in yourself. Life often takes a toll on us, and we stay so busy it is hard to make time to take care of ourselves. I have worked with people with a variety of symptoms and from different walks of life. The thing a lot of people are missing is connection, and I strive to help create that connection and start moving forward. I work with men and women with the transition to parenthood and with couples in strengthening their marital friendship. I have experience work with trauma and have extensive training in this as well as being certified in EMDR.

I view counseling as a partnership between myself, the client, and their family/support system. I have experience working with individuals, groups, and family/marital therapy. In addition to working with depression, anxiety , stress management, and relationship skills, I have experience with personality disorders, and trauma healing; particularly women who have abuse in their history and are currently experiencing distress in relationships, re-victimization, and/or substance use. I believe in meeting the client where they are at and moving forward in their time and stage of change.

Is the problem depression, anxiety , addiction, couple, or family relationships? I can help you expand your options, learn to take better care of yourself, find your strengths, and overcome your fears .
Do your options seem limited? Do you need help to sort things out, make sense of your emotions, or see the situation differently? We may be overwhelmed, feel inadequate or out of control. We may believe that the future is bleak or hopeless. We may be upset with others, afraid of loss, or change. We each have more ability and control over our lives than we know. We can learn to soothe ourselves, remain calm and clear-headed when we face challenges. We can solve problems and effectively negotiate our relationships, but we all need help at one time or another.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
