I am so glad you decided to take time to invest in yourself. Life often takes a toll on us, and we stay so busy it is hard to make time to take care of ourselves. I have worked with people with a variety of symptoms and from different walks of life. The thing a lot of people are missing is connection, and I strive to help create that connection and start moving forward. I work with men and women with the transition to parenthood and with couples in strengthening their marital friendship. I have experience work with trauma and have extensive training in this as well as being certified in
EMDR
.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and
EMDR
(Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) modalities.
Life doesn't always go according to our own plan. It takes courage and strength to admit it is time to seek help when you are in need of support and guidance. An investment in a therapeutic relationship can allow you to find a healthier way of interacting with those around you. As a therapist, I have a passion in helping people who are struggling with life’s challenges. I have worked with a broad spectrum of clients including individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, pregnancy/postpartum mood disorders, trauma, guilt, shame, family conflict/relationship issues, grief, and high stress.

I am an
EMDR
therapist who specializes in trauma work and caring for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder.
While I am not accepting new clients at this time, there are therapists in my practice who are. Feel free to call or visit our website for more information. Picking up the phone to call a counselor can be an anxiety-provoking experience. But as difficult as it can be to ask for help, I know from experience that it is well worth it to collaborate with a professional who understands you, genuinely wants to help you reach your goals and become the best person you can be. I look forward to establishing connections with individuals who are looking for practical, compassionate and effective solutions to their problems.

Are you unhappy in your current life situation? One way to address this is to make a change. "We cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are," as stated by Max DePree. Therapy can help serve as a catalyst for this change, so you can live your best life. I have over 20 years experience working with individuals who have encountered symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, mood swings, grief and loss, addictions, and impulsive behaviors. I utilize evidenced-based practices that are proven to be effective including DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, IDDT,
EMDR
, person-centered treatment and strengths-based therapy.

The decision to begin counseling can be intimidating, exhilarating; and, ultimately, a life changer. Counseling at Sunstone Health & Wellness is done in a very relaxed, conversational way to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Most of the time, we know the solutions to our own problems. But there are those rare occasions when we all need a little extra support, education, and resources to help us continue on the path to living the best life possible. Counseling can be a powerful tool to create change and take action in the life you've always wanted to live.

I am a Certified
EMDR
Therapist and am trained in various CBT modalities including CPT and CBT for depression.
I believe that every person can heal and create the life they want. It is easy for past trauma, life transitions, and daily stresses to keep us from feeling balanced and healthy. Therapy is a safe place to learn new skills, gain insight, practice self-care, and to find purpose and meaning in everyday life. It is also a tool to empower change and to promote healing.

Does anyone really ever understand how tiring it is to act okay and always be strong when there is so much chaos going on inside of us? Maybe we are to the point where we just do not have the energy to do the things we want to do or perhaps even used to enjoy doing. We might be struggling with deep emotions no one else understands. Maybe there are things we don’t even know how to put into words. Therapy is a special place where you can learn more about who you are and find out how to get to where you want to be in life.

Trauma can have a deep impact on the way an individual views themselves, others, and the world. People who have survived trauma can continue to carry the trauma with them by reliving it in their thoughts and dreams, by avoiding certain people, places, and things and experiencing disturbances in their sleep, mood, and startle response. While all of these symptoms can be overwhelming, you do not have to carry them with you for the rest of your life. There are various treatments that have been scientifically proven to positively impact client's lives and help them not just "get over" their trauma, but to overcome it

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
