Coping with the twists and turns of life can be difficult for anyone of any age. At times we may need someone to help us process those twists and turns, and teach us how to cope. I have over 10 years of experience working with adolescents and young adults, but I don't have a preference for any particular age. My ideal client is someone who is curious about themselves and are willing to work toward flourishing on their own, someday, without me. My goal is to help provide a safe space for you to grow. I believe that the center of a great counseling relationship is trust and judgement free.

If you are reading this, chances are you've been trying really hard to keep things together, but inside, you feel stuck, anxious, or worn down. Maybe your mind race with endless "what ifs, " or you find yourself caught in loops of checking, reassurance-seeking, or overthinking that you just can't turn off. Maybe sadness or numbness has started to take over, and it feels like you've lost your spark. Or maybe your relationship feels distant and tense, and you're longing to reconnect but don't know where to start. You don't have to face all of this alone. I help people untangle the thoughts and patterns that keep them feeling trapped.

It takes a lot of strength and bravery to reach out for help. You might want to be heard and understood, and gain understanding of your experience. You might want relief, direction, tools, and to really thrive. If you or your child are struggling with healing from trauma, are feeling down and depressed, or having difficulty managing anxiety, I'd love to help. If you are experiencing a life adjustment, parenting challenges, or are needing support related to perinatal mental health, I'd love to come alongside you. The courage clients have in opening up and sharing their vulnerabilities with me is something I admire and value.

My heart has a deep passion to meet clients where they are in their pain and their struggle, to walk with them through the dark and the hard, and to help equip them with the tools they need to find their way onto more solid ground. For most of my life, God has been allowing into my story many elements of grief and trauma. He has continually been faithful to walk me through every ounce of my pain and I want to steward well the story He has given me by helping others through difficulty the way He has helped me. I want you to know I have walked through my own brokenness, and I am not afraid to enter into yours with you.

Are your relationships feeling more messy than meaningful lately? Most of us have been there, and there are ways to change the "here we ago again" pattern. Research shows that the quality of our connections is the biggest factor in living a fulfilling life—but real connection takes a lot of work. I specialize in helping you do that work in a meaningful way. Whether you’re looking to enhance your marriage, navigate the wild world of dating, deepen your friendships, or figure out complicated dynamics (like being a first responder, consultant, or medical professional), I’m here to help you build real, resilient connections.

Have you ever thought, “I’m just not good enough”; “I should be doing more”; or “ Things are never going to get better”? The thoughts in your head are so fast and loud, that you don’t have the chance to keep up. You go down the rabbit hole of worrying you did something or said something wrong in the past, and you feel constant guilt and regret. There are random times your heart races, you feel out of breath, and overwhelmed with emotion.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
