I provide trauma-informed treatment for individuals who have experienced cumulative trauma through childhood and adulthood. Our sessions can be a place to navigate depression, anxiety, fears and worries, relationship struggles, identity, life transitions, and more. For many of us, we are trying to process a variety of past and current stressors; our time together can be used to practice resetting the nervous system. With a focus on understanding the impact of trauma and personal experiences, I can help you gain a better sense of identity and compassion for self. I value creating a safe environment where you feel seen and accepted.

I am a registered art therapist, but if art isn’t your cup of tea, that’s okay too!
Life can feel overwhelming and exhausting, but I believe that effective coping and shifting our mindset can make day-to-day life not feel this way. I believe that by letting go of the anxieties and self-doubt that holds us back, we can finally get in touch with the parts of ourselves that we want to celebrate. Sometimes we feel disconnected with those parts of ourselves, and my goal is to help you reconnect with them.

At Indy Women's Counseling, we have the privilege of seeing women heal from trauma, depression, and anxiety every day. We get to walk alongside as you remove the barriers between you and the life you want and deserve. We, as women, need a protected and encouraging space to take a "pause" from daily life to think about what we want in our lives and how to get there. Indy Women's Counseling is that space. We also offer more than "talk therapy." We are trained in evidence-based therapies that work. We will help you develop skills and techniques that will empower you as you begin to see yourself as your own healer.

Some modalities that I often use are: EMDR, TBRI, Accelerated Resolution Therapy ( ART), Family Systems, Theraplay, and Narrative Work.
Are you hurting? Is your family hurting from unresolved trauma? Do you wish for peace in your home and relationships? I work with adults, children, and families that have experienced trauma, adoption, or attachment concerns. When you are struggling, it is often hard to see hope or the light at the end of the tunnel. Our primary attachments in our lives form a roadmap for all future relationships. When trauma or an attachment break happens, that throws us off course reeling and hurting. I help others find their compass to their roadmap of relationships so they can find joy in their lives and others again.

Sometimes life moves faster than we can keep up with — and even the most put-together people find themselves stuck, overwhelmed, or quietly wondering if this is really it. Whether you're navigating a demanding career shift, a significant life transition, or a relationship that's slowly losing its spark — you don't have to figure it out alone. I work with individuals and couples who are ready to stop going through the motions and start building a life that feels genuinely good. You've worked hard to get where you are. You deserve more than just coping. You deserve real, lasting change.

I am a Board-Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to assisting individuals suffering from co-dependency, low self-esteem, anxiety, poor coping skills, and trauma.
As an Art Therapist, I utilize a variety of art media to explore present and past issues and allow the creative process to initiate exploration and regulation of emotions and uncover underlying themes within the artwork. I integrate traditional talk therapy techniques through a person-centered framework and use EMDR to address acute and complex trauma.

My practice is unique because I bring in aspects of Art Therapy and creativity to the therapeutic process.
I am passionate about helping people meet the goals they have for their life. We all feel pressures in life and often are unsure of which choice(s) to make to travel down the path we desire. Therapy can serve as a recognition of the road map designed for our journey in life. Together we can explore your goals and build insight into patterns and behaviors that may be holding you back from making healthy changes.

My ideal clients are children who are struggling with ADHD, ASD, or engaging in behavior that aren't getting their needs met, or adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed by distress, trauma, or behaviors that no longer serve them, but who still wants more from life. They may be ready to make meaningful changes, even if they don’t know where to start. They want support that’s flexible, creative, and grounded in real science. Their goals? To feel better, live in line with their values, and build a life that works for them. They may want to climb, walk, or create their way through it, and I’m here for all of it.

As a practicing Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing space where clients feel empowered to process their experiences and collaboratively explore solutions.
I use Art Therapy only when clinically appropriate and only when the client wishes to use it in their therapeutic process. You do not have to be an artist to participate in art therapy, only the willingness to try. Using guided visualization inner child work uses an integrated approach that helps you recognize how your life experiences have shaped you.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
