Has life been “life-ing” lately? Are you tired of being the strong friend? As a parent raising a child on the autism spectrum, I truly understand how overwhelming life can feel. The emotional highs and lows, daily responsibilities, and constant demands can leave you emotionally drained.
I remember a time when I was hesitant about seeking therapy myself. I worried that sharing my struggles would feel like a burden to someone else, and I even felt embarrassed about needing support. I learned that seeking support was not a sign of weakness it was an act of strength, self-awareness, and care. You deserve help too!

Each and every single person on this planet has the ability to change his or her life- it simply takes the correct approach to unlock it. Figuring out this approach can sometimes be incredibly difficult, hopeless, infuriating and a multitude of other not-so-pleasant adjectives. This is where therapy can help. It cannot erase what happened in the past, nor can it magically make the future pain-free. It can however critically analyze and assess the present and identify ways to move forward and pursue the life and identity you wish to cultivate!

Also, I am certified in working with victims of sexual abuse and youth with sexually maladaptive behaviors.
Hearing the words, “you can’t” or “you will never amount to anything” can leave deep emotional wounds that linger long after they are spoken. Over time, those messages may become internalized, shaping how you see yourself and limiting what you believe is possible. I want you to know that those beliefs are not your truth. Change is attainable. Together, we can process painful experiences, develop healthy coping skills, and rebuild self-worth. As trauma is addressed, you’ll gain insight into patterns that no longer serve you and begin rediscovering your strength, confidence, and authentic self.

Do you feel like you need someone as a therapist who not only has the letters after their name, but also has the lived experience of mental health issues and years of treatment? Although I don't understand what it's like to be you, I understand the difficulties of navigating life with the added challenges that these issues bring in a way that just a textbook doesn't teach.
Ultimately, I believe that you are the person who knows you best. I believe that with a little bit of guidance (and maybe a little bit of respectful confrontation), you can do the work to get yourself to your best life!

My ideal clients are children who are struggling with ADHD, ASD, or engaging in behavior that aren't getting their needs met, or adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed by distress, trauma, or behaviors that no longer serve them, but who still wants more from life. They may be ready to make meaningful changes, even if they don’t know where to start. They want support that’s flexible, creative, and grounded in real science. Their goals? To feel better, live in line with their values, and build a life that works for them. They may want to climb, walk, or create their way through it, and I’m here for all of it.

I am a licensed mental health counselor and have 10 years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
I realize choosing a therapist can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be an anxiety inducing experience. One of the most important things to consider when choosing a therapist is the therapeutic relationship. That may seem obvious, but research shows that the relationship is just as important, if not more important, than the techniques used. That's why finding someone you click with is significant in your journey. I treat the relationship with care, building trust, respect, and understanding, but I will also challenge you in sessions because life isn't always easy so therapy won't always feel easy either.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
