Could yesterday’s trauma unknowingly, and unconsciously keep you in a state of maladaptive feelings/behaviors such as low self-esteem, anxiety, anger, guilt, shame, depression, jealousy, or perfectionism?
I want to aid you in learning to begin to live fully. Repeated negative situations are often misdirected attempts of addressing deep rooted trauma. Repeated negative outcomes may also manifest in anxiety and depression. I specialize in trauma to include recognizing trauma responses. My aim is to help ensure the remnants of trauma are properly addressed

For 2 years I worked in Community Mental Health, then I had a private practice specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety addictions, family/parenting issues, difficulty managing emotions/stress.
Do you struggle with controlling your emotional regulation? Within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I will give you skills that you can use to learn to manage your emotions. You will learn how to better control the emotional swings that cause you discomfort and sometimes interfere with meaningful relationships. Intimate relationships are difficult to manage and while you can't change other people, you can change yourself. Understanding your approach and changing it will help you stop the destructive "behavior" that you've been performing, and you'll be surprised to find that your environment and your partner have changed as well

I work well with anxiety and depression and am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for trauma.
At present, I work primarily with individuals aged 14 to 30. I have a passion for working with adolescents and young adults and particularly with those who are late recognized/late diagnosed neurodivergent. I believe that intervening with young individuals can help provide them the tools to navigate the struggles of life long after their therapy has ended. I enjoy working with individuals who are looking to explore and gain a better understanding of themselves while navigating symptoms related to mental health struggles. I strive to work from a neurodiversity affirming perspective and am also trained in EMDR.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
