Do you find yourself emotionally stuck, no matter what you do? You may be fed up with dealing with the impact of trauma, feeling exhausted from managing anxiety, or stuck under the weight of depression. You might not even remember a time when things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to be in control of your life. You're ready to be free from the burden you've been carrying. Most of all, you're ready to move forward with the plans you've always had for your life.

I am an Independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field providing direct, clinical services to individuals, families and couples. In my experience, I have found that people are reluctant to engage in therapy out of fear of change, avoidance of emotional pain and the uncertainty of how to heal and evolve. Therapy should be about finding opportunities for positive change and growth in the areas of your life which you wish to improve upon. It is my hope that when any client walks into my office, they feel comfortable, relaxed and have the space to be vulnerable.

Life is hard; just naturally, on its own. And the way we do life doesn't always make it any easier! It is my belief that the one thing that allows us to cope with this life is connection, both with ourselves and others. I have 6 years of experience working with youth and families.
I work best with people age 13-35 who are curious about ways they can find inner strength to respond to their needs. They might be seeking help for anxiety, depression, or coping with trauma. All of my clients are coming to therapy seeking support, a listening ear, and a judgement-free space to process and learn. I'm a good match for people interested in feeling more comfortable handling sensations that arise with stress, people interested in reprocessing traumatic events to reduce trauma responses, and people hoping to live a more fulfilling life.

Do you find yourself caught in cycles of anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional shutdown- as if the past is still playing out in the present? Does it feel difficult to be fully present in your own life right now? Are stressful situations becoming harder to manage, leaving you feeling exhausted, disconnected or stuck? Maybe you are ready to stop overthinking, to feel safe in your relationships, to be less reactive and more engaged— but unsure how to begin. If any of this resonates, you’re not alone. Trauma can shape how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world. But healing is possible — and it doesn't have to be done alone.

I am passionate about working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities and supporting their families as they navigate home, school, and community. I believe strongly that our goal should never be to "cure" the individual with autism or make them fit the world but rather to help them be their most successful self by providing education, support, and accommodations as necessary. I also believe that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, and each individual and family should be provided with supports that are tailored to them and are evaluated regularly as they grow and develop.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
