My specialties include:

of origin issues (the

you grew up in), setting boundaries, anxiety, forgiveness, and adoption issues.
I like the phrase “when we know better, we do better”. Every single one of us grew up learning some good things and some bad things and as an adult, we often realize that some of the things we learned weren’t healthy or maybe they suited us well when we were younger but don’t work anymore. I love to walk alongside my clients and help them learn what works and what doesn’t and learn new strategies to live a full life with less stress and anxiety.

Not currently accepting new patients. Seeking therapy can be a difficult decision to make; this choice can be further compounded when life doesn’t seem to be going your way in the first place. Exploring and researching options for psychotherapy is an important step in initiating meaningful change into your life, so be encouraged that you have already begun the process. As a psychologist, my first goal is always to create an alliance of trust, comfort, and collaboration. A sense of safety fosters emotional expression that leads to the creation of achievable treatment goals and ultimately therapeutic success.

As an adult trying to navigate this world, you often find yourself wondering why everyone else seems to have it all figured out while you are struggling. Maybe you can't connect with your partner or you feel labeled by your
family
and are struggling to find who YOU really are. You hear advice from all different directions and have tried so many different things and nothing seems to be working. You feel defeated- and now it has become a cycle that is just getting worse. Maybe you can't sleep well or you're feeling disconnected. Imagine waking up tomorrow and feeling like you had a better sense of direction. What would that feel like?

Change your thoughts and you change your world. This statement could not be a more perfect example of how I view this thing called life. I believe that my role is to help guide you in becoming more aware of any barriers that may be in the way of allowing for change and growth. I come from a holistic frame of mind and believe that one can regain balance of mind, body, and soul with just being open to the idea and process of change. In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer Equine Facilitated Learning sessions and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions through Strides to Success as a way to support a more holistic healing.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
