As a therapist I have helped individuals,
couples
, and children who were hurting, find their way to healing.
It takes a lot of courage to open up to someone, when so many people haven’t felt safe. Everyone has a story that deserves to be heard. I am here to listen to your story. It is important. You are important. Allow me to walk alongside you as you unpack what has happened in your life and how to move forward. Maybe it is time for some self-compassion. I am happy to answer questions, and we can take it slow. I hope you will consider moving toward taking care of yourself, and call me.

Let's be honest .... relationships can be stressful! Most of the time we might decide to suffer in silence, share details with people who aren't the best "advice givers", or even force ourselves to "accommodate" our
partner
's needs without being poured into. We can't expect for relationships to become healthy again if we continue with the same attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors when engaging with our loved ones. That's why I'm here; to break up the monotonous routines and to encourage engagement in the use of tools WORTH trying! You can do all things through Christ who strengths you!

Everyone can benefit from a supportive, therapeutic
relationship
at some point during their life journey, and even brief therapy can provide the tools, resources, and insight necessary to get you back to your best self.
It can be difficult to know when to seek help for emotional pain. Everyone experiences fluctuations in mood, but if depression, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep or appetite disturbances, difficulty with attention and focus, performance anxiety, or relational conflicts are interfering with your daily life, there are interventions that can help you. I work well with individuals during life transitions (divorce, changing family dynamics, parenting stress), employment related stressors and burnout, vicarious trauma for helping professionals (medical professionals, law enforcement, social services, etc), anxiety disorders, and
relationship
stress.

I am also a Discernment Counselor for
couples
making decisions about divorce.
I like the phrase “when we know better, we do better”. Every single one of us grew up learning some good things and some bad things and as an adult, we often realize that some of the things we learned weren’t healthy or maybe they suited us well when we were younger but don’t work anymore. I love to walk alongside my clients and help them learn what works and what doesn’t and learn new strategies to live a full life with less stress and anxiety.

Change your thoughts and you change your world. This statement could not be a more perfect example of how I view this thing called life. I believe that my role is to help guide you in becoming more aware of any barriers that may be in the way of allowing for change and growth. I come from a holistic frame of mind and believe that one can regain balance of mind, body, and soul with just being open to the idea and process of change. In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer Equine Facilitated Learning sessions and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions through Strides to Success as a way to support a more holistic healing.

Times of struggle and pain can also be times of positive growth. When we learn that we have choices in how we respond to the situations in our lives, we can become empowered to choose to respond to stressors in a way that enables us to move forward in an intentional and positive direction.
It is my goal to help you discover the choices and strengths you have to cope with the challenges you face and to also discover the gifts that are so often hidden in adversities in order that you might actively choose the future you want.

The things most important to me when developing a therapeutic
relationship
are safety, transparency, and feeling heard. It can be difficult to open up and share with someone the events of our lives that are difficult to process, that is why I strive to create a genuine, non-judgmental and dynamic space.

It is my belief that many people struggle through their days with feelings of stress and anxiety to the point where they begin to accept it as a normal part of their lives. I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be. Oftentimes, the thought of finding a therapist you can relate to seems more daunting than your current daily struggles. You continue to live in a cloud of overwhelm, struggling to make it through each day and hoping tomorrow will be better... but it's not.

The most important part of this process is creating a working
relationship

I believe all of us experience difficulties in our lives, within ourselves and within our relationships. As a therapist, I view my role as a guide in helping people recognize areas in their life they wish to improve. I work with children, families, and adults, helping them to recognize their strengths and past successes and to build on those to tackle life's challenges. I specialize in working with individuals, both children and adults, who experience anxiety and depression as well as with individuals experiencing psychological distress as the result of medical difficulties.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
