I employ a holistic biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to issues including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship problems, parenting, grief, aging, and coping with the everyday challenges of life.
I feel I am most helpful when working with clients who have a sense of where they want their lives to go, who acknowledge the obstacles that confront them, and who are willing to form a collaborative relationship with me to address those challenges and apply the principles and practices that will produce the desired outcomes in their lives.

There are times when we experience life's challenges as overwhelming. We use the skills we have employed in the past and the results have not been what we desired. I see therapy as an opportunity to validate your efforts and to offer additional and sometimes alternative ways of perceiving and doing. Often there are other ways of working toward balance and success and now you have courageously and with empowerment taken the first step to begin this work. Congratulations!! I look forward to being with you on this journey.

My areas of expertise include treatment for depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, neuropsychological assessment.
Having been a practicing psychologist since 1984 I have had thousands of clients. I firmly believe most individuals, with some exceptions, know the answer to their problems but just can't think of it or put it into workable action. My job is to assist the client in narrowly defining their clinical question (what they want to work on) and a metric driven method for knowing when we are improving their situation with with measureable objectives. I provide a great deal of transparency in my therapy including outlining the first ten sessions in detail before we start, my recommended reading list, providing detailed handout sheets

The goal is to get you out of a place where you feel stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed and take you to a place where you feel clear-headed, confident, and in control of your life.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is essential. I bring warmth, authenticity, and a good sense of humor into sessions. I also believe in challenging clients. Therapy should feel safe and explore emotions, but it should also push you to grow. Working with me is less "how does that make you feel" and more "what are we going to do about it?"

Many of my clients are neurodivergent and experience anxiety or perfectionism alongside their eating concerns.
Hi there! I’m an eating disorder therapist for sensitive & neurodivergent teens and adults. I specialize in helping clients navigate eating disorders, disordered eating, body image distress, and chronic overwhelm. Many of my clients have been told they’re “too sensitive” or feel like their nervous system is always running on high alert. I work with people who want to better understand their eating disorder rather than fight it—those feeling stuck in cycles of restriction, binging, rigidity, or shame.

Integrating CBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic approaches, I work with adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and unresolved or traumatic experiences to support emotional regulation, insight, and lasting change in a collaborative, supportive way.
I have a down-to-earth approach to therapy that blends insight with practical tools. My work is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based care, including EMDR when it’s a good fit. EMDR can be especially helpful for processing experiences that continue to affect you emotionally, even if they happened long ago.

Life is so hard when we’re stuck in our own heads repeating the same scenarios, worries, and self-critical thoughts.
For over 15 years I've worked to help people understand the roots of their uncertainty and frustration; to learn why changing behaviors and mindset is so difficult. The psychotherapy process helps us understand our inner world on a much deeper level and when we first understand, the path clears and makes a way for real, lasting change.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
