Trevor is passionate about walking alongside people in their most difficult seasons, helping them discover hope and become the best version of themselves. He works primarily with adolescents and young adults, and has a special focus on trauma and anxiety. I am ready and prepared to aid in healing, regardless of the degree of pain or dysfunction. If you’ve never talked with a counselor, you might be anxious. I understand that counseling is never easy. But then, neither is life. And there’s no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed about asking for help. In fact, knowing you need help is a sign of courage and character.

With my training in Art Therapy, we can begin to explore in a different way.
You might be a parent really wishing that there was a handbook on how to do this best. Or maybe you're a teenage girl really struggling with sustaining healthy friendships. Possibly, you are graduating from college and feeling utterly lost. No matter where you fall in that spectrum, or outside of it. I believe that you can create growth in your life. I am here to walk with you on that path. I won't lead you; you will make those choices yourself. But I will be a guide.

Integrating art therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and talk therapy, I offer a unique treatment approach for adults, teens, and families.
Art therapy encourages relaxation and emotional expression, easing the process of addressing difficult issues while allowing gentle access to the unconscious mind. This is key to discovering the root causes of many problems, which are often much harder to reach using talk therapy alone. The addition of EMDR can quicken the resolution of problems.

Have you ever thought, “I’m just not good enough”; “I should be doing more”; or “ Things are never going to get better”? The thoughts in your head are so fast and loud, that you don’t have the chance to keep up. You go down the rabbit hole of worrying you did something or said something wrong in the past, and you feel constant guilt and regret. There are random times your heart races, you feel out of breath, and overwhelmed with emotion.

Let's ignite your motive to unlock your potential! Catchy slogan huh? Okay but seriously, do you ever say “this is just me” or “this is just how I act”? Fun fact, there is a “motive” behind every action and behavior that you do. Our motives are a reflection of what we’ve been through, what we are going through, or sometimes what we fear for our future. All reasons to seek therapy to better understand yourself. Your first assignment is to sit in silence and ask yourself two questions: Why do I think I act/behave the way that I do? Am I ready to unlock the potential reasons why? Hint- reflect on your childhood.

Art Therapy Therapists
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
