Are you feeling worn down by the weight of everyday life? Holding experiences that feel too heavy, confusing, or painful to put into words? Maybe you’re longing for a space where you don’t have to explain yourself perfectly, where someone can sit with your story gently and without judgment. Or perhaps your child is struggling to express big emotions, and you’re not sure how to help them feel safe and regulated. You don’t have to navigate that alone.

People come to therapy when the pain that they are feeling becomes unmanageable and can no longer be ignored. I have worked with men and women, helping them to discover and understand how they have repeated and become "stuck" in non-productive patterns with the most important people in their lives. Couples often say, they continue to have the same fights, over and over and never realize what they are really fighting about or come to a resolution.

During unexpected challenges in life, you may feel alone and as if no one fully understands your pain. You may even feel stuck and hopeless that things will ever improve or change. The decision to reach out for support is often scary, but an important and courageous step towards healing. Throughout my work hearing each person’s unique story, I have come to believe that meaningful connection and change is possible for everyone.

It can be hard to be a person; to change, grow, reflect, love, and practice acceptance in an overwhelming world that constantly demands so much of us. If you are; a creative, an educator or in a helping profession, a parent going through divorce or major life change, co-parenting, experiencing existential anxiety, OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ adult/adolescent - we may be a great fit. I have experience working with all of these groups and successfully treating and improving outcomes. I believe mental health education is empowering and value building autonomy and self trust in those I work with.

Do the same problems and situations keep cropping up in your life, no matter how hard you try to not go there again? The Hakomi method is highly effective in identifying often deeply-buried beliefs, feelings and experiences that keep bringing you back to the same old places. Once you are in contact with those beliefs and feelings, they can be changed or welcomed as you wish. FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
