Life can be challenging, and everyone has times when they feel overwhelmed and need some support. In my work, I provide a caring, nonjudgmental environment for adolescents, adults, and their families to speak openly about their lives and to explore their true selves. Therapy is meant to be collaborative, so picture me as a trusted guide walking beside you as you face what comes next. I specialize in working with young people, people with anxiety, and folks in the LGBTQ+ community.

Accepting new clients! Healing happens in relationships, and working with a therapist who makes you feel seen, heard, and supported can be a powerful catalyst for change. Instead, I prioritize collaborating with you to build trust & safety so you can bring your full, authentic self to the therapy room. With compassion, curiosity, and humor, we can co-create a therapeutic relationship that honors your history, strengths, values, and beliefs to cultivate deep-rooted, lasting change.

My ideal client is ready for change. They are open to creative ideas and new ways of thinking about themselves and the world. They are equal collaborators and partners with me on their journey. They are willing to stay curious when we meet challenges on our journey together. They are also willing to laugh with me and find joy in the process of becoming. I often work with teachers, advocates, performance artists (above and below line), visual artists, and folks navigating identity issues. Religion, race, ability, and gender are often the foundations of my identity work. I provide custom workshops for groups as well.

My philosophy in working with clients is to build a trusting relationship with them by learning about their story - their family's story, their personal story, their triumphs and their challenges. I then work with the client to use their strengths to help them form a new story, a story where they change ingrained habits and live the life they have always dreamed of living. Cuando trabajo, mi filosofía es crear una relación con clientes y escuchar su propia historia. Mi objetivo es ayudarlos a realizar su sueno.

I became drawn to the work of therapy after many years of working in social justice movements, and seeing how relationships hold the power and potential to change the world. I particularly enjoy working with people who use drugs, queer and trans folks, and people doing social movement work from a harm reduction and trauma-informed perspective. As a therapist, I believe you have the tools and skills necessary to heal yourself, and our work in therapy is to uncover them together. I'm interested in the intersections of healing and liberation, and am excited to explore with you how your own healing contributes to a liberated future.

I have focused my work on supporting queer and trans people and people of color. The clients who tend to be the best fit for my clinical approach tend to be people who are looking to be pushed, who want to build self-awareness, and want to change their relationship with their younger selves. They are asking the questions, "Who I am in this world?" or "How do I heal from the violence of the world?" or "How do I do things differently?" They want to build meaningful lives, practice gratitude and mindfulness, and alleviate suffering by offering themselves understanding and self-nurture.

Finding a queer affirming therapist can sometimes feel impossible, but I specialize in working with people within the queer community. I have extensive education and experience working with trauma from my work at a domestic violence shelter, mitigation services within the prison system, homeless youth and adult services, and alcohol and substance use disorder recovery services. You should be able to feel comfortable with your therapist and feel you are being listened to and helped. Making that first call can be the hardest, especially if you have felt you weren’t understood or accepted in the past.

It is my privilege to support people who want to do the brave work of releasing patterns of stuckness and embracing new, life-affirming narratives. Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Illinois, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Illinois listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
