I trained extensively with premier institutions like the Beck Institute and U-Penn in CBT and ERP for anxiety and OCD.
My clients are looking for effective therapy to resolve or manage symptoms related to procrastination, AD/HD, trauma, anxiety, depression and OCD. They want to work with a therapist who has a high level of expertise and experience working with their particular struggles. They are motivated and ready to tackle the issues that interfere with feeling they are performing at their best at home and work. They want therapy in which they’re met with warmth and compassion and feel understood, respected and validated. My clients are university students, professionals in high performance careers, and professionals staying home to parent.

We will use ERP and CBT in our work.
Let's be real, life is tough sometimes. You keep your head down and try to get through the day, only to be up at night fighting worries that won’t let go. You are stressed out, overwhelmed, and have little energy. Everything you do to try and be in control of your anxiety isn’t working, the intrusive and unwanted thoughts just keep coming. You can’t remember the last time you felt good. It’s difficult to know where to start, or how to sort it out on your own. Even though you’re feeling stuck, you sense the possibility that things could be different. Reconnecting to what makes life meaningful is not as far away as it might seem.

I customize your therapy for anxiety specifically to you or your child by creatively combining leading therapies that are proven to target anxiety, such as CBT, DBT, ERP , parent training.
You are trying to keep everything together, but the truth is worry is taking over your life. You're feeling irritable & like you're losing control of your emotions making it hard to be present at work or with people you love. On top of that, you are exhausted because you can’t turn off your brain to fall asleep. Perhaps your child is starting to show signs of anxiety - being fearful, angry or complaining of stomachaches. Bedtime takes forever & school drop-off is a marathon. Everything you have tried hasn’t helped & you only feel more exhausted. You have a sense that life could be easier and you want relief that will last.

While my style is eclectic in approaching each client with what seems most relevant to them as an individual, I primarily find psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and Exposure Response Prevention ( ERP ) theories and practices helpful in informing what I can offer.
The world can feel very uncertain, discordant, unjust, and sometimes unbearable; in my approach I aim to look with you both internally and externally to find moments of reflection, validation, accountability, clarity, and care. I use a warm, relational approach to my work with clients. Most importantly I strive to uphold anti-racist, liberatory, and LGBTQIA+ affirming scaffolding in my practice and I am always learning more in this respect. Therapy should feel safe, empowering, collaborative, and be a place where communication is transparent.

Hi I’m Leslie, and I’m excited to work with you! I work with clients on cultivating an awareness of the mind, body, and spirit connection by incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based practices, and energy work through the chakra system. I love holding the space for clients to learn how to sit with their feelings, turn down the chatter in their mind, and tune into their intuition. Whether we are using ERP (exposure and response prevention) to face your fears or meditation to learn how to let go, my style consists of down-to-earth humor, playfulness, and compassion.

How can I find a therapist in Illinois?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
