I have helped clients work through issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and a variety of other circumstances.
When I was a kid, I observed my mom go through counseling. I saw her gain tools to manage depression and evolve into someone who knew her worth. She modeled for me how effective counseling can be. It is my absolute pleasure to support my clients in this way. I am especially passionate about supporting women of color in healing from wounds, and seeing & strengthening their resilience. I am leading a group for BIPOC women from January 4, and would be thrilled to share more to see if this is a good fit for you.

Trauma is, by definition, an experience that overwhelms our ability to cope. In the aftermath, people often struggle with depression, anxiety, dissociation, relationship issues, grief , and substance abuse. Our area of focus includes working with survivors of sexual violence (assault, child sexual abuse, and incest), intimate partner violence, adult survivors of child abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, neglect), family of origin trauma, and intergenerational trauma. We recognize the impact that trauma has on our nervous systems and ability to manage the chaos of life. At times, ways of coping can become issues in the present.

I specialize in helping clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief , and bipolar related disorders.
Personal growth and soul-searching take courage. Therapy is a journey, and I am ready to begin that journey with those courageous clients. It takes courage to seek help and sit with a stranger, the therapist, and talk about what troubles you, what motivates you and what you love. Counseling is about you and for you. No matter the age and stage in your life seek help if you feel you need it. At times, what is going on in our lives seems insurmountable. Having someone to provide encouragement, listen without judgement, and helping you set goals and realistic expectations can ease the burden.

I help those who have experienced grief connected to the death or loss of a pet or animal companion.
I help people achieve healing and wellness in their lives by focusing on positivity and internal strengths. I believe the mind and the body connect and affect one another. This is why I believe therapy can help people who are feeling overwhelmed with big emotions, having difficulties with life transitions, struggling with past traumas, feeling anxieties over the future, repair or create healthy connections or relationships with others and obtain inner peace.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Illinois, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Illinois listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
