As a therapist I believe the most important thing I can emphasize in the relationship is autonomy. Addressing the shortcomings of the profession in the past I seek to create a collaborative environment where you as the client understand where our work is going and that it can be addressed at any time. I have an interest working with clients dealing with trauma, clients from the LGBTQ population (in particular the transgender and transgender non-binary experience) and couples. I hope to provide clarity and a greater understanding of your emotional world and what options you have to become the person you wish to be.
As a recent graduate I pull from a variety approaches including CBT, IFS, Psychodynamic, person-centered and existential therapies. Finding out what works best for your goals will be a collaborative and ongoing process where we can find out what works and what is ineffective.
I believe open non-judgmental communication is the cornerstone to effective therapy. This includes the necessary humility on my part to recognize that there a many experiences that are unknown to me and I will approach them with both curiosity and respect as I learn about your world.
