What stories are you telling yourself about who you are, how you got here, or what comes next? So much of who we are is made up of the world we live in, with all of its influences, mirrors, and connections. Maybe you're looking for someone to help unhook you from those unhelpful stories, or maybe you're in need of space to explore new ideas. Whatever the case, I'm glad you're here.

I enjoy working with individuals that are ready to do something different. Often a person gets stuck in feeling the insanity of doing the same thing over and over again waiting for things to change. Only by making a change in your behavior can you expect a different outcome, some people need support to make a change that is lasting.

My specialty is working with individuals who have experienced severe or complex trauma, and I understand that trauma rarely travels alone. It often brings along struggles like eating disorders, self-injury, and mood disorders, which can make daily life feel overwhelming. Therapy is not a single player game with a strict list of rules, it will look different from person to person. I view it as a collaborative journey—one where we work together to uncover and overcome the roadblocks to living life authentically.

In fact, I enjoy working with challenging issues including, but not limited to, relationship and communication, divorce, anxiety, depression, addiction, sexuality, meaning of life issues, obesity and body image as well as trauma.
We work together to identify and support who you are at your core. I help you determine what you want from your relationships, family and career and then create a plan to make it happen. Of course, there may be some challenges along the way but I don't believe life has to be endless suffering. Schedule a session and we can figure out the path together. All you need already exists within you!

I primarily work with adults and older teens navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, LGBTQ+ issues, grief, identity exploration, life transitions, anger, and more.
I draw from a blend of evidence-based approaches, tailoring each session to fit the individual. I also don’t just teach these strategies, I use them in my own life. From mindfulness to stress management and habit-building, I’ve leaned on these tools personally, which allows me to show up with empathy and grounded, real-world insight.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
