Many people come to therapy feeling pulled in different directions—struggling with self-doubt, shame, or a sense of not fully belonging. I work with individuals who want to better understand themselves, especially around identity, relationships, and internal conflict. This includes people who identify as LGBTQ+, those questioning their sexuality, and others navigating cultural or personal complexities.

My goal as a therapist is to try and help people see their circumstances, their world and maybe even themselves a little differently than before they walked through my door. I believe that therapy can be truly transformative when one is fully committed to the process, a commitment I try to support and encourage by establishing a relationship built on trust and respect. I primarily utilize family and individually focused therapy and employ the methods of ACT, DBT and CBT therapies in an effort to meet each individual where they are and make their introduction to the therapeutic process as seamless as possible.

My goal as a therapist is to help you prioritize yourself in a way that leads to growth and a life worth celebrating. Growth can be as straightforward as learning to cope with a difficult situation, or as complex as charting a brand new life for yourself. Together, we will work to uncover your unfulfilled needs, the related obstacles, and any thoughts and perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling life. Ultimately, my hope and the focus of our work together is to help you make meaningful changes that are good for you, and those around you.

Life can be overwhelming at times, leaving you feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck. We’ll explore what’s causing these feelings and identify the problems holding you back. Together, we will develop practical solutions, and break them into manageable steps that fit your unique needs. I will be there alongside you on your journey to keep you on the path you choose. I will cheer you on in your successes, I’ll provide insights when you need ideas, and I will provide guidance when you feel lost. Occasionally, I will provide a nudge when you get stuck.

Therapeutic approaches are designed specifically for the individual. Play therapy is used with children 12 and under. My ideal client may be navigating substance use challenges, trauma, anxiety, or mood disorders, often carrying the weight of stigma or systemic barriers. They may be rebuilding after incarceration or seeking to reshape their identity beyond society’s labels. Their goals are rooted in hope—healing, self-discovery, stability, and empowerment. They want to break cycles, build resilience, and move toward lives aligned with their values, strengths, and dreams. They come ready to do the hard work of change and are seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space to be seen and heard fully.

You don’t have to white-knuckle your way through stress, frustration, or uncertainty on your own. Many of my clients have spent years trying to push themselves through difficult emotions on their own, only to feel stuck in the same patterns—strained relationships, intense emotions, or behaviors that don’t align with what they want in life. Whether you are a student, a working individual, or just feeling stuck, I provide a supportive space for all where you feel understood and reassured that you are not alone in your journey.

You're the expert of your own life, and I focus on forming a partnership where we'll combine your knowledge and my expertise to find personalized solutions to your challenges. Life is an ongoing series of changes and adaptations, where we learn to get what we need from our careers, relationships, and personal lives. At times, we may get stuck due to events in our lives we weren't prepared for, and we live with the discomfort of being stuck until we reach a point where we're ready for a radical change into something new. I love working with clients who are at that point of frustration and are ready for a new way of being.

A good fit between therapist and patient is an essential ingredient in forming an effective working alliance, assuming the therapist has strong academic credentials. That is why I encourage patients to do their research. The best way to determine whether people can work well together is to talk. There should be no charge for an initial phone consultation to evaluate this. If after a phone visit it doesn't feel like a good fit, I will help you find someone who is.

Many of the people that come to see me have in someway either lost their way in life and are tired of settling for the crumbs. Some come because of their lives have become out of balance and in some cases out of control in the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual areas. Others, because they are in a tremendous amount of emotional pain. My goal is to help you find a healthy way of dealing with whatever the issues, in effective ways, that are keeping you from reaching your highest potential and to heal the obvious and not so obvious wounds that might be preventing that from happening.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
