I love working with clients who are going through the difficult parts of life and need some help figuring out how to handle it all. Whether that difficult experience is figuring out college and careers, navigating relationships, or just simply the stress that comes from the day-to-day, I approach my clients' problems without judgment. My clients tend to get the best outcomes when they can work with me to figure out what they would like to achieve in therapy and commit to enacting change, whether big or small, outside of sessions.

I meet with clients who share about their struggle with things like anxiety, depression, sadness, grief, guilt, shame, angst, trauma, exhaustion, sleep problems, over-extending, boundaries, betrayal, feeling unseen, unheard, having difficulty managing chronic pain.
I offer weekly sessions that go at the pace you are most comfortable with. I will not pressure you to explore anything uncomfortable, but I will challenge you in therapeutic ways. I am generous with my knowledge about the autonomic nervous system, triggers and how to regulate. I use a variety of therapy modalities during sessions for the best outcomes.

You’ve carried the weight of things no one should have had to endure — the confusion and wounds of a painful childhood, the shame or fear born from religious trauma, and the relentless burden of chronic pain that often goes unseen. You’re not just looking for someone to listen — you’re looking for a space where you don’t have to explain why it still hurts, or why it’s hard to trust, or why your body feels like it’s always in survival mode. You want healing that honors every layer of your experience — emotionally, physically, and spiritually — and meets you with compassion, not judgment. You deserve care that sees the whole of you.

Accepting new clients (individuals age 17+; I currently am full for couples). Feeling anxious, stressed, alone, stuck, or going through challenging life circumstances? Counseling can help! I work with adults of all ages, and I also have a passion for college student and young adult mental health! Life does not always go how we think it should. It's often helpful to have the viewpoint of someone who is outside of our situation. I've got experience working with people who have been through traumatic events, both physical and emotional. Unhealthy family dynamics often span many generations. Doing our own emotional healing work can impact generations of people moving forward. There's little in life more noble than changing the family tree.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
